Pic of spare?

Has anyone got the official Honda spare for the civic?
The cover of mine doesnt look right it seems that they've taken the floor of the cubby it goes in and used it as a cover... it doesnt fit properly.

Has anyone got a picture of theirs?

Er doesn't sound right, so you mean before you got the space you just had a hole in your boot floor?

Hi Obo,

Sounds a little odd to me, I have the official Honda wheel but it was bought after I got the Car.

The wheel goes in the space on top of the carpet but under the lid.
It sits on 3 foam pieces that you get with the wheel, you should have also got a luggage net to go in the boot.

just going to take some pictures.

OK Obo,

This is what mine looks like.

You should get:-

1 x Wheel + tyre (Obviously!)
3 x foam pads (to sit the tyre on)
1 x big plastic bag (to put the punctured tyre in)
1 x fixing bolt + spacer thing
1 x luggage net

Don't think there is anything else.

As you can see the wheel sits on top of the foam pads on top of the carpet.

Hope this helps, and really hope your stealers haven't made another boo boo!

There is also a cover that goes over the spare wheel.

Right I see what they did, they've definately taken the carpet bit up from the bottom that Joeys spare is sitting on and used it as a (very bad fitting) cover.

I have the net but not the bag, I thought I read somewhere it was supposed to have a proper cover I will get a picture tomorrow cos it looks terrible and will eventually scratch the inside of the boot if it's moved about too much, not that it should be but thats not the point it's obviously been fitted wrong!

Doesn't sound right, must examine the cubbys for this luggage net, no sign of it so far!

I got the same as JoeyF.

The one thing I have noticed though is that my carpet under the spare does not lift like a hump back bridge each side like the pictures show.

My carpet is perfectly smooth both sides.

I don't have this cover either, and I don't think I got the plastic bag to put the wheel in. Did get the net - though thought it was funny that the salesman didn't know what it is for. (The full size road wheel won't fit in the cubby hole, and so has to go on top of the lid, with the net over it to stop it sliding around.)

I didn't pay for my spare wheel so perhaps the dealer was trying to save a few pounds by omitting the cover ?

Last night I took the spare out replaced the carpet that the dealer had used as a cover. Poked a hole in for the spare fitting bolt and put the tire on top, the manual shows a cover which is shaped to fit snuggly around the wheel but I'm not bothered about that as it seems no-one else has it either. My salesman didnt know what the net was for either he picked it up and said "oh thats some sort of luggage net" and put it back. Obviously they dont sell many spares!

So yes another ****-up by bristol but easily resolved. Looks better in there now!

I got the spare wheel fitted when I collected the car and like JoeyF got the wheel mounted on pads, bolted down with placcy bag and net.

And like obo the salesman didnt know what the net was for, he told me it was probably a luggage cover for the roof bars we had ordered, good job I didn’t listen to him as that could have been a bit of a disaster

so the tyre is just sitting loose in the secret compartment with the net spread accross to secure the lid inplace from the tyre jumping up and down while driving?

No, the wheel is bolted to the floor, to stop it moving - The net is used when you have fitted the spacesaver and need to secure the full size road wheel.

Thanks for clarifying - i thought the earlier posts indicated it was just sitting on some foam - must have misread something!

I must think of getting one of these myself - tho the extra space is handy for holidays.

I also use it for holding the weekly shopping, it stretches over the shopping bags and holds them in place so my eggs don't get broken!! Also handy for holding any sort of item that might move around while driving.
