Rear Brake Discs

Had my car in for its 1st service last week and was told that they were getting me new rear brake discs under warranty because they were scored. Has **** else had their rear discs replaced because of this? Any ideas what could have caused it? Here are a couple of pics, one from each rear disc.

Ouch... thats not good!

I'm assuming they're replacing the brake pads at the same time!

sometimes I have similar (but not that strange) lines on my front disc...
I say sometimes because after harder brakings they disappear and gets back to normal...

the reason for your problem could be something with the pads.. there is something in the pad compund...
I would try some harder brakings from higher speeds (but with care! don't fell off the road and watch mirror if anybody is coming behind you!)
so after some brakings with nice hot discs (don't touch them) make a visible check... it might won't be a solution but you can try

I have the same problem went back to the dealer at 975 miles on the clock and showed him the scoring and also surface cracks
I told them to make a note and they can change them at the first service.
we will see!

yep had the same problem with my rear disks at 10 months old. My dealer skimmed the rear disks. I knew the problem and they confirmed that the rear pads had limited movement due to a build up of brake dust on the pad carrier.

problem sorted
