OEM discs and pads?

Hi, where is the best place for OEM discs and pads for a 2.2 Derv, front and rear. Is it still Honda? Or anywhere cheap online?

Are these OEM? Look it......

The OEM discs/pads are rubbish. You'd be much better off spending the cash on some upgrades

and pads here :: EBC Brakes Direct Limited : Cars : Brake Pads & Brake Shoes : HONDA : Civic : 2.2 TD Type-S (FK FN) : 2006-

Be going with OEM discs as there perfectly good, maybe different pads, one's that produce less dust would be nice. EBC IMO are crap, so i won't be touching those.

Thanks No and XRV

No offence meant, but you're in the minority with the view that the OEM kit is perfectly good!

The discs are fine, whats wrong with them. They work, they stop the car, there adequate. Don't want to spend more.

In that respect, fair enough fella. Each to their own (and their own driving style) - the OEM kit just doesn't stop effectively enough for me.

I did the uprating brakes on the DC5, and that was well worth it as i was hooning about at high speeds, don't see the point in getting anything other than OEM for my Derv. Sure the OEM setup would be more than fine for most people, just need some braided hoses first. Certainly doesn't need a change of discs.

Guess you've not thought about remapping it then yet

OEM discs are fine for OEM pads but it is doubtful they'll be able to take the heat (literally) when being used in an uprated setup with improved pads etc.
You are right though - most people will be on the OEM kit with zero problems.

Heheh, im all ears, are they any good?

Main issue with the oem setup is they produce a shed load of dust, the rears more than ive seen on previous cars by a lot.

Ive certainly thought of a remap, but when you add in the cost of a uprated clutch, it's a no for me.

I'm in same quandry, I have a 1.8 for commuting so don't need tremendous (track-style) stopping power but would like less dust, Greenstuff seems to better for low dust, opinions please...

Mtec Disks come with free Mintex pads, better than OEM in stopping power, similar 'over heat' point (little higher) and the same amount of dust
These are an every-day pad not a track pad, but they have brilliant stopping force

Disks are disks, they have done me well so far (10k?) and look great (see my pics) i went for drilled & grooved for cooling

For me the problem with EBC Green pads is the lack of feel. You press the peddle, nothing much happens, press a little more and you're almost locking up. Great for the dust-freeness, though.

I don't know who else makes low-dust pads, though.

The MTEC website doesn't seem to be working.

Anywhere else you can buy them? Are they good for rears as well?

Search for them on ebay

I paid about £170 for a full set of disks and pads that are better than OEM

Their logo (on all their products on ebay) has a three quarter brake disk, like a big 'C'

Hmmm think im just gonna order normal stuff from EBC brakes direct. Do not trust these mikey mouse companies with drilled discs.

Definitely would be avoiding drilled discs. How come the change of heart on EBC?
