Broken Front wheel stud
Hi Everyone. I checked the forums before posting & while this is covered, the question was never really clearly answered.
One of the 5 wheel studs on my front right has broken off while removing the nut and I'd like to replace it. I do most of my own work & from the other posts it seems that there is a debate of some that the stud can easily be knocked/pressed out towards the hub by aligning a small space between the dust sheild & hub while others say the hub needs to be removed due to that there is no space. Can someone who has done this or has first hand knowledge verify which is true as I'm changing the disks this weekend & would like to replace the stud as well. (Please, no guessing or suggestions that are unrelated as they are counterproductive & waste both our time) Thanks in advance as this forum has saved me in the past & has provided a wealth of infomation 99% of the time. |

Ok, nevermind all. WHile replacing all four Disks, I changed the stud as well & it was very easy. As the dust shield on the rear does have a small slot, I had to bend it out of the way & when installing the stud had to give it a few taps so it could clear the bearing hub but all in all it took me maybe 1.5 hrs. Even the two set screws on each disk came out with minimal force
