VW curbed my alloys!!!!

Well I took my car in to garage for repaint on the bonnet and collecting it tomorrow, however there is a noticeable curb mark on my alloys which was not there before!!!! I take good care of my alloys so I know for sure I did not do it myself before I dropped it off. Question is should I get them to fix it (which will prob take several weeks!) or retouch it myself? Do you guys think it's a easy DIY job? Thanks guys! I'm pretty sure they will feel my anger tomorrow or worse yet feel my foot up their backside!

NB: I do live far away from the garage it's 140 miles round trip for me! Even my repaint took forever for them to get it done and also Trax 2nd sept is closing in!

by experience it is very hard to get a garage to agree that they caused damage and very hard to prove the culprit.

Yeah bad thing is most of the pics I took of my car is on drivers side I rarely took pics on passenger side. And yeah most likely they will tell me tomorrow that it was already there when they received it

In short to your question of "will VW fix the issue".. No.

I take pictures from around 10 angels when i drop my car off somewhere. I sometimes get asked "what are you doing" and I always reply with "documenting car condition as I leave it".

Geotag with time and date is always useful too.

It may seem a little over the top but I have had scratches, dings and cracks in all areas of vehicles before when I have dropped it off for say a simple service.

It's going to be hard to prove and to be honest, it's small enough to maybe touch up and no one will really notice.

I doubt they will fix it for you.
I think at best pint it out to them and show your anger about it.
Perhaps an agreement like a discount on the job they did for you?

Goodluck

I got the car from VW and it still under warranty. The sales guy said he would get my bonnet repainted after I purchased it. I haven't had this car for long (under a month) hence I am mad about it because when I bought it the alloys were done up all nice and smooth for me just like brand new.

I feel your pain, had something similar happen to me, really small mark but still... I know every stonechip on my car so nobody can tell me it wasn't there before. Got them to finally offer to respray it but at that point I was even more afraid that they'd do even more damage with a poor job deliberately so I declined

It's terrible that someone working on your car can actually damage it...

I wouldn't even waste your time, just cut your losses and sort it yourself.

Really sorry this has happened to you

I would certainly be complaining to VW. It's unlikely that you'll get a complete repair - and hopefully that can be polished out / touched up - but you may be able to get a contribution to the cost.

Absolutely gutted for you, I hate it when this happens. However, learn from it - next time you drop your car off go around it with someone from the dealership and note down everything that's wrong with it. I'm surprised how many companies don't do this for liability purposes to be honest; Autoglass certainly did when they replaced my windscreen as it's as much for their protection as yours!

Yeah that's what I'm afraid of too!

Guys I picked up my car today, the chip was not too bad, not perfect but needs some polishing up and I plan to coat my alloys white in future anyways. I didn't really make too much of a fuss as I noted the mileage and my car hasn't been driven about. But yeah feel very gutted though!

Glad you're not too fussed about it - especially if you're planning to get them refurbished in white.
To be fair with a little touchup it won't be noticeable from your "distance" picture.
