Brake dust covers

Some years ago I had a set of rubber/alloy brake dust covers. Basically they were cut to size and fitted over the brakes/wheel studs.

When the wheel was fitted they formed a barrier against brake dust getting onto the rim. The only downside was that the brakes could overheat, but only if you were giving a bit of wellie, in normal driving they were excellent. The alloy went over the studs and the black rubber surround covered all of the inside of the rim.

Does anyone know if they are still available?

Ps: Ah, just found these, but can you get them in England?

Yes, they look quite favourable:

Kleen Wheels UK - Brake dust shields. Keep your wheels clean. Clean Wheels. Dust shields protect your wheels from brake dust

...but Honda is not on their list of manufacturers.

I had a set of these from Kleenwheels.com. I got them for my Mazda 3 Sport but they weren't on the standard list so they ordered them in from the states for me. TBH I bought them for the right reasons but they looked cr@p IMO. I even painted them silver to match the car but even then I was getting a lot of strange comments. They feel cheap and bend out of shape easily. The old rubber type are becoming available again so I have been told and the company was based in Leighton Buzzard. I preferred this type but after the Kleen Wheels saga I think I will leave them alone HTH

Did you get a response from them Pottsy? I've been looking for something like this since although the 18" storms are much the same colour as the dust, they're much shinier when they're clean. Although that encourages me to clean my car amazingly regularly it's also becoming a bit unhealthy! It seems that Honda still isnt on their list of brands but if they'd get some in for me I might give it a shot (when I can find the money...damn cars are such an expensive toy!)

The amount of dust my Honda brakes create is ridiculous! It really annoys me too. The wheels get cacked in the stuff after only very short journeys.
I'm thinking about putting a set of different pads in when they need changing to try and rid the problem. Something like EBC green stuff or similar.

Hmm I hadn't thought about changing the pads (would make a lot of sense!) I think I'm going to buy some greenstuff for my westfield...wonder if they'd be the same size (I'm guessing probably not) - if they are I'll stick them on the civic first and see if it helps the problem at all.

A friend of mine used to have an Elise with brake pads that gave off no brake dust - I forget what they were now, they weren't great in the wet, but were excellent in the dry. They dont do then on the S2 Elise now.

I find I get a load of brake dust on my alloys (17" Penta's) - will just have to clean them v.regularly! At least they are easy to clean and the Anthracite colour helps disguise the dust too
