Question EBC brakes problem

Hello guys!

2 months ago I fit a new set of EBC brake pads (green stuff) and discs (drill and groove) on my Honda. I noticed rubbing noise coming from the front brakes. I have done over 1000 miles before I drove back to my country. Everything was fine till I start using brakes more often on motorways (speed about 90-100 mph). Steering wheel start to shake and I did notice that new set is much worst then genuine Honda brakes. Brakes were very weak. I took car to a mechanic, who has checked and measured the discs. It turned out that one of the discs is over the norm so thats why my steering wheel shaking. I expected a lot more from these brakes for this price.

Did anyone else had similar problem? Can that be a EBC manufacture fault?
Why brakes were so weak?

Thanks,
Lucas.

if your mechanic is correct and confident of measurments then contrct EBC and see what they say.

Did not realise that they did drilled and grooved discs, thought they only did solid, kgrooved and dimpled with grooves.

I had that problem with tg discs and greenstuff, steering wheel vibrations under braking, brakes fading after a few aplications so i got mine skimmed at a local garage and that sorted the vibrations.

Got the same setup as you EBC slotted + Greenstuff & not had any problem at all so perhaps you have a duff disc, normally EBC are OK & I have never had any problem with them in the past.

If the garage who tested them can confirm they are out then they should help.

I fit discs and pads myself. It's not a first time when I have done this kind of job myself. Never had any problems before. So what's th best solution now? Call EBC or go straight to a garage?

Runout been checked by one of garages back in my country.

Why brakes were so weak?

Thanks,
Lucas.

I had the EXACT same problem on my greenstuff and turbo grooved discs. Braking at high speeds gave massive judders in the steering wheel and a booming noise from the disc. Yet i was able to cover more then just 1000 miles, i believe it was arond the 8000 miles.
After my direct purschase i already had great issues in contacting EBC for certificates so i just swapped with my OEM set and never looked back.
They did however brake better then OEM when in the right temperature operating window.
Perhaps a fault in installation? As a lot of other people some very pleased with them??
Its probably worth trying to contact them and see what comes up, i never tried as my discs are deemed illegal in belgium (hence my request for certificates).
I really hope you get it sorted soon because driving like that is dangerous and annoying.

No warranty is offered for brake vibration suffered due to uneven rotor thickness wear after incorrect installation of brake rotors.
It is commonly known in the brake rotor business that accurate mounting and checking of runout on brake rotors is paramount at installation and in spite of necessary warnings many mechanics still see fit to ignore this warning and make no effort whatsoever to check rotor runout.
This leads to brake vibration in the 3-5,000 miles lifetime period and is not a warrantable condition.
The solution for vibration at this stage is to have the rotors turned or replaced and to thoroughly clean the mounting flange on the vehicle and carefully check for runout before returning the vehicle to service use.
