Which should I go for 17'' or 18'' wheels?
Hi,
Just ordered my new Civic Type S GT, and wondered if I did the right thing ordering the 18" wheels (storm or blade) instead of 17" ones [standard size], is there much difference in ride between them?? And do they kerb easily?? All the best, Tom (a newbie) |

So I may well end up buying some 17"s if my ride turns out to be dodgy and then just put my 18"s back on when I sell her.

I've got the 18" Storms. Minor kerbing so far is from reversing into my drive which "had" the quadrant type corner stones. So every now and then the wheel slipped off the edge and got a scuff. Other than that careful parking is the way to go.
18" storms and no regrets. |

If you can find out if the dealer fits the wheels instead of the factory, then they may stick on whatever the local contracted tyre depot has on a good deal.
See if you can get ones with rim protection, which will help reduce the likelihood of kerbing. |

Cool, so most would say the ride doesn't differ too badly and IF I'm careful (i.e. don't let my dad reverse me in anywhere
Thanks Guy's and Gal's, Tom |

I've got 18" Storms and wish I hadn't bothered. Yes, they look the ****nits but the ride suffers a lot and they are so easily damaged.

i got new 18" wheels on my type S GT today. After a 60 mile run, I can say the ride IS a bit firmer and bumpy than 17's but not so much so that I'd consider going back to 17"s.
+ Wow they look beautiful (Oz racing canova's) - A bit firmer ride quality ( on Bridgestone potenza RE050s) +++ far greater than - Bottom line - GO FOR IT!! |

Great guys, not long for me to wait now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited, (did anyone else get the feeling of being five years old again and rushing down to see the presents that Santa left under the tree??????) my stomach is going all funny, as this is the first properly new car I've had and I've had it done exactly how I wanted it done.
I'm fairly sure I've made the right choice as the wheels go, but I'll see, if not you'll be seeing some Blades on here soon..... Tom |

hehehehehehe, the car does look (from the pics I've seen), very good with the blades on it. Especially in black, just deciding whether or not to fit the "bumper Garnish" (sounds like a big pack of mustard). The whole car looks fab anyways.....
