new 18" wheels and tyres, what size do i need?
looking to buy new 18" wheels and tyres for a type s gt. This being the first time im buying new wheels, what size should i be asking for? ie ive been quoted 225/35/18 and 7.5", 8" and 8.5" None of which makes any sense to me.
Also for a more comfortable ride, what tyres should i be going for, Bridgestone Potenza or Michelins, or other? Thanks |

They should be 225/40/18 on a 7.5" wheel. The 7.5" is just the width of the wheel.
The offset needs to be the same as the OEM wheels, but I'm afraid I don't know what it is. Maybe a dealer could help? For a comfortable ride, you need 16" wheels. For an OK ride you need 17" wheels. If you go for 18" or 19", you are going to have to suffer to be beautiful. The difference between manufacturer will be negligible. |

Pottsy, great stuff, just what i needed as will be on the phone to wheel dealers tomorrow looking for the best quote, probably going with Aez Excite Dark wheels and Bridgestone RE050 tyres.

The offset you require is a minimum of +45, maximum +55 (ideally +45). This is the figure which affects the track of the car, ie the distance between the wheels, so a higher offset will give a wider track (better handling but increased tyre wear). Honda recommend +45.
The PCD you need is 5 x 114.3, the 5 indicates 5 stud and 114.3 is the distance between the hole centres (pitch centre difference). Hope this helps. |

Wheel offset
I think you have mistaken the theory, it is opposite than you said. The smaller the offset, the more the wheels extend from the car center, ie the wheelbase becomes wider. It can be adjusted by wider wheel width. For more see Wheel Offset Calculator
