Brake bleeding

Hi

I've bled brakes before and will be using my trusty Easibleed. From searching it appears doing the brakes in the order O/S F, N/S F, N/S R, O/S R is best.

However my question is can you bleed the brakes just by jacking up without taking the wheels off? It looks like the nipples are flush with the calipers?

Cheers

Jonny

I think it can be done but I've not tried it that way myself

I would imagine it can be done, but you might need to lift car quite high to be able to get to them, for the front ones it might be easier to turn steering to full lock each way to get to them......... I have thought of using my eezibleed in the future to replace brake fluid on our Civic, but not sure whether there is a cap that fits on the reservoir to give a good seal, as it isn't a standard type of thread.... Do they make a cap that fits ?

It can be done. It's a little tight but its much quicker than taking all the wheels off. I jacked 1 front corner part way and this was enough for me to get at all the nipples(which had all been freed off the day before when wheels were off) and mine is lowered 30mm.

I didn't spill a drop but if I did just wipe with a rag then spray with brake cleaner and maybe plenty of water if you feel the need.

Ah great cheers. I'll check on the Easibleed cap. Whilst brake fluid is nasty stuff, it does take a while to act. Good job as I once managed to spray it all over the front end of a car

I bought an eezi bleed from halfords but it didn't fit the reservoir cap - so took it back.

I would like to know if there is such a sysytem that fits the civic????

I don't think there is, Some people just use an old cap that they have modded.

Tried that and it lasted for one complete bleed - second time round it gave up and brake fluid everywhere

They do a "clamp" cap but not sure how good that is... think I'll go for a vacuum bleed setup in future.

Ah that's a pain. Just done the oil and filter, and access isn't too bad to save getting the wheels off. Hmm will have to see what I can come up with.

The problem is that the pressure forces the fluid out from under the edge of the cap... need to find a way to seal it as silicone sealant wasn't good enough
