There's no pre-running in, nor power runs on test beds, nor anything. I think the Norwegian product manager has been eating too much brown cheese!
Dont mess with our wonderful brown cheese, i smell envy

Guess i just have to settle for that then, wich allso means i will give them a hard time why they are telling me things wich they have no knowledge of... Makes me pissed to get faulty information about a 40000 pound investment

The guy I bought my Type-R from (dealership in Sweden) told me that the engines are run in at the "factory".

Maybe someone told him that and he believes it to be true, not his fault. I take the word of Pottsy over his every day of the week!

The dealer I bought from (not the same as the first dealer I visited) confessed after a few minutes that I obviously knew more about the car than he did.

I proved him wrong about the alarm system, even though he "had himself checked the facts with Honda Sweden". He eventually confirmed in writing that I was right.

I never been close to knowing a car so well as my new Civic.
I'm a chemist and should not be knowing cars at all.

All way has and will be a contentious issue like I said
Wait a minute !!!
Mototune is talking about breaking-in a motobike engine WHICH IS NOT A DIESEL, neither is it a car engine with longer piston travels and generaly bigger bore diameters !!
Bikes run-in much shorter than any car and the diesel is still slower in running-in because of the rpm and longer piston travelling, I have run-in 9 new motobikes and actually now running-in my new civic 2,2 i-CTDI diesel just puchased last tusday !

Thats right, to run-in an engine, poor oil is the best cause to richer oil wont allow the rings to be bedded in and will take much more time to run-in, i would suggest semi senthatic oil

They do run them up and down and old airfield, but hardly 1-2 hours.
Look at the mileage on a new car... it is not 100-200km!
In fact, they do them on benches, after it is installed in the car and then only is the car tested for a small drive. Mine had exactly 12 km on the clock.

I ran mine in like it was on the Dakar rally, and it hasn't used a drop of oil in 4500 miles, and it still feel rather fast (as compared to say my old 2.2 petrol). BTW Honda wouldn't change my oil for semi synthetic (or 100% natural), and told me doing so would invalidate my warranty!!!!!

Tom

I guess they are afraid that the turbo is gone if driven hard with semi-synth oil (quite possible considering the RPM of such "toys")

Mines a 1.8 petrol, my old car was the 2.2 petrol, as such no turbo to go.
