Flashing
Rescued from before the server crashed:
Bungle said: Don't flash, it might be dangerous. (paraphrased) Pottsy said: Use your common sense. (also paraphrased) Elfa7 wrote: The onus is always on the car waiting to pull out. If your in a 30 limit, slow moving traffic, you can see the vehicle slowing ,to let you move out carefully. Whereas on a dual carriagway -- fast moving traffic -- if someone flashed, I'd be very wary of pulling out. When you're driving, you've got to assess things all the time, and hope to god you make the right decision. TTdegs then wrote: it's a booger though when that assesment comes back as 'no, don't flash' as you see another Civ heading towards you But yes - if your first meeting with them is as you try to explain why you flashed the car out from the side road right in front of them... Thiswilldo wrote: Many moons ago when I had a Triumph Spitfire, we would always give other Spitfires a very quick flash of the lights. I have to say not once did I see any sggro because of it. Maldax then responded: I have always thought flashing a bit dangerous! Thats why I lean out the window and wave both my arms TTDegs got imaginative with: Glass spider said: ---Quote (Originally by Maldax)--- I have always thought flashing a bit dangerous! To save any confusion, my original post highlighted potential problems with other people seeing a flash and misinterpreting them as a give way flash and you might get pedestrians walking out in front of you or cars pulling out. That's all.
Just use common sense, as a flash in a built up area could be seen by a handul of different people, all of whom may interpret it differently. Waving out the window with both arms is absolutely fine! |
