I have just noticed yesterday that when my car was in auto stop mode the steering wheel locks, But if you turn the wheel the car starts again without pressing the clutch in.
Just thought I would pass this on.
The steering doesn't lock but while the engine is off the power steering won't be available... But I will turn it tomorrow and check the restart on the engine
I forgot to try it this morning, had mine since 10th July but in Honda today as a clip or something has become loose in the tailgate; also they are looking at a paint chip in one of the joins in the boot area. Will test it when I get it back tonight.
I tried something similar tonight. Engine was off (via stop/start) and I let it roll a few yards whilst I was in a queue. The engine started itself pretty quickly !
I have also tested this starting tricks now , love them , its makes me more convinced to use start/stop function than I was to begin with. Simply great!
If you are making a steering input or if the vehicle starts to roll, the car judges that as the driver wanting to make a manoeuvre and starts the engine. If you press the brake pedal a few times too that'll lose your vacuum pressure and it'll restart.
A couple of weeks ago I was in a queue on the M4. Idle stop turned the engine off and after sitting there for a little while I plugged my MP3 player into the USB to charge it. The engine promptly turned itself back on.
I've since noticed that if my MP3 player is plugged into the USB, the Idle Stop system doesn't turn the engine off at all.
There is nothing to stop the idle stop working for either A/C or USB unless the cabin temperature is yet to reach stability, you have selected LO (or HI), you have mode set to screen (DEF) or the vehicle battery is low. What is the reason your car gives you Basinga when it refuses to idle stop?
Go to the settings menu in the imid and switch on the idle stop warning messages. It'll show you why. Is it repeatable? Try again with the warning messages displayed.
