Question 2010 model? Another facelift?

I currently have an '07 1.8 ES Civic and called the dealership a few days ago to find out about trading in for a newer and upgraded model ('09 1.8 EX GT).

He took some time in getting back to me, but when he did he said that there is a real shortage of the 2009 models at the moment with the factory closing down for a while so there's nothing available immediately from any forecourt in their company.

He then went on to say that they're waiting to hear back tomorrow about the pricing, spec and changes of a new 2010 model going into production now.

Has anyone heard of this and know any more information on what changes have been/are being made?

Thanks,

Chris

As there has just been a facelift, i'm guessing it is just the new model year, as per 2007, 2008.

2008 is a separate model from 2007, yet was no facelift like 2009 is. 2008 revision improved the car in many areas, notably security, giving it a 5 star rating at EuroNCAP tests, where 2007 was at 4.

I wouldn't be surprised if 2010 cars received improvements just the same.

Hardly another facelift, possibly some tweaks to some specs or option packages to make the car seem more interesting despite having been on the market a while now.

Agreed - no facelift

I agree it would be far too soon for another facelift.

The salesman said he'd get back to me tomorrow once he finds out the official information from Honda on prices, lead time etc.

What I'd like to get from him though is the list of changes/upgrades.

Anyone from dealerships know any more information?

Chrimcb,

I paid a deposit for cw ctr in April and dealer told me last month that ym 2010 will come into production in August with some upgrades but did not know anything else at that time.

I suspect really minor changes ... would be nice to see some list though.

I very much doubt there will be another face-lift version of the 8th gen. civic at all.
Usually there are only one major mid-life face-lift like the MY 2009 civic already has undergone, regardless of which car brand it is.
All other changes are just of the cosmetic types...

The next major change will not be another make-over, but a completely new model, namely the 9th gen. Honda civic...

August sounds early, it is usually a couple of months later that that.

The salesman I spoke to seemed to think it would be getting put into production right now.

Since the factory was closed, no cars were made, demand is still there, stocks dried up and they want to get the new model out while the demand is still there.

Perhaps this release will be the exception to the rule just due to the strange financial circumstances.

I'm not sure also when they are on summer shut down. When I was with one of their suppliers they had received a memo saying that the summer break would be longer than the usual one.

Production is definitely well under way because I've seen the transporters on the M25.

I wonder if the right hand drive models are in short supply or whether he's trying to get you to agree to taking a 2008 model?

I guess the 2008's are presumably not shifting as well as the 2009's and Honda may be offering incentives to dealers to shift the 2008 models from storage.

It's a really bad time to buy a Civic right now. I went into the dealers the other day and they said there is 1 colour of the 2009 models left. They don't even have the spec I was after. And the best he could do was try to sell me a 2010 car when they don't even know what the spec or price is. The dealer said it would be about Sept for new model and Oct by the time the offers are updated.

From what I can tell from what the dealer could order, all they're doing is dropping the ES GT and EX models. So the new line up will be SE, ES, EX GT which should be the same as the 2009 versions. It's really annoying that they shut down production for months and now they can't meet demand.

a face lift would be good as long as they put some paint on the car this time ...

The ES GT is the model I would go for next as I want what my 2007 EX has now. I want SatNav, Bluetooth, HID's, etc. I don't particularly want to pay the extra 1500 for leather, auto dipping rear view mirror and illuminated footwells.

You better hurry, it won't be around for MY 2010.
Only ES or EX GT.

Looks like my ES GT Auto is out then

If I want SatNav with Auto then it's EX GT or nothing - oh well

Me also.

I'll just keep my 06 ES for a bit longer, perhaps common sense will prevail at Honda and they'll bring it back.

Hey all,

The main change for the 2010 Civic range is the addition of the new 'Si' grade - its great, do a search and you'll see the press release on here.

Cheers,
