USB Connector... Connection.

This may be a silly question...

Is the USB connection to the car (in the centre console) connected to the inbuilt SatNav drive, or the CD head unit?

I'm in need of a replacement SatNav drive as mine is faulty and don't want to get one that ends up with me losing the ability to play music off my USB stick.

Cheers.

Well... The answer to my own question is that it's not connected to the SatNav drive. I had the drive taken out today, to be sent off for repair, and there's no extra connection for the USB after all. (I thought I'd read it somewhere)

My USB pendrive is still picked up by the audio system.

No, as the satnav uses the disk to read from to display the map

Woodsie, any chance you could get a part number on the usb cable (the part of the cable that goes into the centre console) when you (or your mechaninc/fitment centre) reinstalls?
I need a second one to do some hacking and slashing on as I would rather not hack up the cable that is in my car.
