2009 / 59 clutch problems ???

Dear all,

Just an observation but I noted that there was a distinct lack of people with 09/59 2.2's mentioning clutch issues.

Just wondering whether this is just a lack of millage covered at this time, or have Honda actually sorted the manufacturing out here?

If you read through all of these like I just have....
....you'll see they are all 2006/2007 with 1 or 2 2008 for the 2.2 diesel.

So either the problem was fixed after 55/06/56/07/57 plates with the updated clutch......or people have not quite covered the requisite mileage....around 25-30k miles.

The thread does appear to be getting quieter....so maybe all the 2.2 vehicles have now had the upgraded clutch fitted.

Type Rs seem to be on the rise though

Yeah, I read the register and my heart sank! But then I started to review the dates and noted that none where from 09 onwards. I know they did a facelift at this point so wondered whether they did a little tinkering under the bonnet as well.

Let's hope

Going off topic slightly, is it common in the Type R as well then? I really fancy one after the 2.2 (couple of years away) but not if they have clutch problems. Already been there and done that in my 2.2.

Dont think Type Rs have a problem with slipping clutches like the diesel. Its just the clutch pedal/master cylinder squeaks like all the civics.

The other halfs type r has a problem with the clutch. No slipping or squeaky pedal but a noise when a bit of stress on the clutch. Can be replicated when reversing up a hill when releasing the pedal. Already been replaced under warranty. Was originally told Honda were working on a fix but have now been told they arent probably due to production of said car being ceased. Just as we thought. It doesnt affect the car in any way as its only a noise which by the way is now Honda s answer but not sure if you could reassure a potential new owner of this come time to sell...

That happened on mine, they ended up replacing the cylinder or something along those lines. Started off putting various lubricants on and sending me on my way.

My 09 plate started the dreaded clutch slip and "clicky" noise a couple of weeks ago..Only 18,500 on the clock. Took it back to Honda Leeds and they confirmed the clutch was slipping and the master cylinder was faulty - All replaced under warranty within two days. Feels a much healthier clutch now..Lets see how long this one lasts.

I brought a 2.2 Type S GT 44k miles
There is a clicking noise in the clutch and the slipping clutch in 3rd and 4th
AND mines a 59 plate

It went in a few months ago for clicking where they didnt want to do anything except grease the pedals and the pistons cos they couldnt 'see' anthing
My take on Honda is they are quick to take your 10k but after that youre on your own. So dissapointed!

Every month on off had issues, Sunroof failing, clicking and slipping revvs and now corrosion spots coming on door ?!?!?!

I told the woman at Honda I wished I never traded in my old 03 Honda, that never broke at all and she just laughed!

Says it all rly....
