Exclamation Civic 1.4 Sport i-vtec 100hp K&N Filter

I have just bought a 2010 Honda Civic 1.4 i-vetec Sport / 100hp and i want to get a K&N panel filter. I cannot seem to find the exact match to my engine size and model year on the K&N car application database.

I anyone of you has purchased a K&N panel filter for your 2010 1.4 i-vtec 100hp please share the model number for the filter so I can order one for my new Civic.

Thanks and take care!

Alex

Strange replies from K&N filters Europe

I wrote yesterday to the K&N reps in Europe in regards of the model of the panel replacement filter for the Civic 1.4 i-vtec 100hp. I received the following replies from the two reps Europe / UK.

"Thank you for your enquiry. A filter should become available in the next two months. You can check for new products from time to time on K&N High Performance Air Filters, Air Intakes, & Oil Filters

Regards,

K&N FILTERS (EUROPE) LTD"

and

"Dear Mr. Bilbilov,

Thank you for your interest in K&N products.
Unfortunately we do not have air filters for the 2010 Civic 1.4L.

Kind regards,

SRM (Europe) BV
a subsidiary of K&N Engineering, Inc. USA"

I am somewhat confused about this.

Is it even worth getting one anyway? I read that you won't actually get much of a performance boost if any, just a different sound through the revs.

I don't think there is much to tweak with the 1.4 sadly.

I am sure that a high revving engine such as this 1.4 Vtec will benefit from an increased airflow and lower air temps. My expectations is that it will make it a happier revving engine and give it more of a grunt on full throttle thus make the driving more exciting and satisfying. Who can argue with that?

Hi guys

I just checked the K&N website again and the panel filter is now available for our engine!

K&N Application Search Results

However, there seems to be two options of panel filter, but not sure what one I need - is it the first one or the one marked "V II" ???

Anyhow - was wondering if anyone has got it yet and can repor back on any performance improvements?

Cheers

Panel filters directly replace the OEM airfilter in the airbox
Just swap.

Plus, I thought the 1.4 airbox was the same as in the 1.8, so the same filter would fit ? ...

I don't think it's the same airbox in these two engines Derek.Anyone knows if they have plans to produce any short air intake for the 1.4 and not just the air filter?

I'd go to a dealer and compare the airboxes, just to be sure ...

As for air intakes, I've recently ordered a K&N 57i kit for my 1.8, but I don't remember seeing any specific listing for the 1.4 ...

I've just called their UK office and now I'm being told they are not sure they do one for the 1.4! Confusion again! Lol!

They asked me to send in the p/n for the OEM filter so they can cross ref with their database. I'll look into it and let you know how I get on.

Someone has done such a thing?

The Typhoon does not fit the 1.8, but the 57i does - so, I suspect the 57i could at least be adapted for the 1.4 ? …

i cant see why a 1.8 one woudnt fit, the main problem is getting the sensor to fit in place which is what your paying for really the cone is just a cone you could buy any k&n one.so it all depends on the size of the MAS sensor which i could be the same size somthing you could look into?!

i'm happy to say to you that now there is a sport panel air filter for our 1.4 vtec

thanks to me and a friend... we just sent the original filter so we can be sure that the new one will fit on the airbox

now they have the job done and we are waiting in this week for the first filter to arrive here in italy, so we can to try it on our civic.

if the filter fit, and there will be no problems, than all of you will be able to order the filter for your civics too.

this high performance filter is made by ITG (Coventry, UK).
