just to keep this thread up to date... cooling ducts on rear isn't feasable. physically room for 62mm ducting, but to allow for full suspension travel, your seriously hindering ground clearance and running at least 3 custom brackets to avoid lower shock mount, exhaust and one to mount the IN side of the duct. there is space on the backplate below calipers h/brake cable to mount it though.

I think i figured out a way to get a decent mount for trackday recording - good track view and more importantly, the view of wheel&gear changes.
long spirit level, neoprene cable management to stop damage to seats and a pair of luggage straps through the seat harness holes. seems to be good and solid.
round bars don't work as the camera acts as a lever and rotates so you eventually get a video of the floor.
Tested it out on the road in +R mode and seems to work well. just need to get a camera that has image stabilisation on. hard to justify a gopro but bearly any cameras have image stabilisation on and an external mic/mic-in option.

might of stumbled across a reason why i've been having brake issues... track dependant, heat dissipation issues.

Abingdon doesnt have the straights that donnington has - abingdon is a more brake heavy circuit. based on the fact we have solid discs and no cooling ductwork then it just cant get rid of the heat quickly enough. over many laps, heat becomes too much and have issues like I've had.
only a theory, but knowing the layouts at abingdon and donnington, makes it plausible in my mind.

At a wet and cold Donington so far from ideal but the PS4S are performing well so far. Track just red flagged for Clio on its side so need to concentrate and take no libertys.

Yeah slid off and hit the gravel sideways i think. Was a tough day really as i was constantly aware of people having offs and could maybe have pushed harder but still very enjoyable and the car came home in one piece.

definately did need cover - been a wet day. no point pushing too hard - your not in it for track times, just to have fun.

i've been tempted by one of those 3mx3m gazebos and some clamp on sandbags to secure the legs. certainly useful for abingdon, but heard paddock bay is first come first serve so might not get cover at every event.

not yet done donny - hoping to get one in next year, but probably run one more abingdon to gain faith in the brake setup with the cup2 tyres on.

starting to plan 2019 days.
brakes are a must before my next day (going tarox 2peice, braided hoses and maybe hc800 again), probably got 1 more day on my dunlop RT2's before they'll need replacing.

i'm extremely tempted to run my 18" (winter) wheels on the track; swap rubber around each season - ad08r, r888r, cup2's etc.

looks to be vastly cheaper on tyre costs that way; £80/tyre savings on both road focused summer tyres & dedicated track rubber. seems pointless running super expensive tyres year round for a few days/yr when they'll properly get used. Also gives me the benefit of being able to take spare tyres should something happen and need to swap.

only negative side means dropping to 225/40r18's for track rubber rather than 235-255/35r19's fitments but i doubt it will make any real difference other than slightly increased tyre wear.

MSE released Abingdon dates. booked in for the 29th March.
Now got a deadline for brake improvements and oil cooler. Not too fussed about oil cooler as temps should be low enough to not be much of a problem. Hopefully DBA will be releasing availability info on their 4000t3 front discs in the next week.

fingers crossed for a dry day.

hit abingdon yesterday. entirely uneventful so seems i've got the car sorted for track
ps4s's worked well but debating having my OEM balljoints modded for more camber (maxed out on -1.5). maybe -2.2 to -2.5, and/or cup2 tyres. 4S's almost indistushiable on road vs the dunlop RT2's, but havent chewed up the outter edge on track.
oil cooler also worked brilliantly. max sump (iMID) was 115c i think. Stack guages showed 101c peak at the oil thermostat, pre-cooler.
brakes held up well. turned all 3 temp bands on the dba's white which means discs got over 630c.

undecided how well the HC800's have coped - we'll find that out in the next few hours (got some caliper dust seals to replace so will check out the pad surface) and over the next few weeks with how the pads actually feel on road. i suspect with disk temp of 630c+, then i'll need different pads. research needed on that.

also had a slight technical issue where i didnt set the gopro to record. got timings, but no videos this time

hc800's glazed, some cracking so wire brushed and sanded 'em up to see if they'll recover. I suspect thats £170 down the drain in 2weeks. Hope not, but past experience seems likely.
6 of the 8 brembo dust seals all crispy too. theres another £66 chewed through. i knew 4 of 'em were gone but looks like i took another 2 at trackday. Easy enough to do - pads out, screwdriver/small pry tool to pop old ones out out and finger push new ones back in.

next event unknown. need to take a step back and decide what to do when pads prove themselves over the next week. very tempted to go with a pair of Cup2s (rather than another pair of ps4s's), and would also like to get more camber to save the outter edge. all money, and it's been expensive enough recently!

starting to feel like i've hijacked this thread.

videos up.
< wettest session with decent amount of passing in the second half.

not looked at 'em myself in much detail but felt like i wasn't getting the turn in right after the mid-morning tuition. felt like i kept slipping back to what i thought was right.

Like the video setup you have there, great quality too.

Just in the middle of getting my FN2 equipped for the track but I'm a newbie when it comes to track days!

Just a quick question, what tyres are you running in the wet and dry ... I can see its really wet in one of your videos.

cup2 on front, ps4s's on rear. When ps4s's are done, cup2 all round i think as they suit the fk2 better.

hero4 silver, rode VideoMicro mic next to gopro pointing towards rear of car, garmin GLO 10hz GPS, Carista OBD2 all linked to RaceChronoPro.
Bought more for my own benefit so i can see lines, what works and doesnt. Very new to track myself - 4th or 5th trackday this one but i spend a lot of time researching lines and watching videos to see what others get up to.
Driver61 on youtube has definately helped me get some basics on Donington. 20min tuition on the day also helped.

1:27.18 fastest lap (last video) with track still damp off line

1:45.79 on the wettest. I've no idea how these compare to other FK2 times, but i'd like to think decently quick.

Really helpful, thanks. I might be back to pick your brains some more once my car is ready . Just waiting on some custom brackets for the brembos and it should be ready for its first outing. I'm thinking Blyton or Donington as they are both an hour or so away.

Good to hear you had a good day Tim, given the forecast the weather was good lol. Were you happy with the PBS? The Cup 2's were probably just in their window and the PS4S are ideal i would say for those conditions. Could you run the racechrono just through your phone for laptimes?

yep can run times only as RaceChrono doesnt need anything specific to run. It is highly recommended to get 10hz GPS for accuracy. vast majority/all phones are only 1hz with their GPS so no good.

warmest the cup2's got were barely hand warm and they look like i've not even been on track with 'em either. aimed for 33c hot (so road cold temps) and had to add more pressure throughout the day. dry/warm days seem to get about +8psi increase so i dropped 'em by 6psi to account for cooler day and wet. ended up adding 4psi around lunchtime as they just didn't heat up.
