Seat Altea

Considering changing the missus's renault scenic. The car has been pretty reliable but as it's the 1.6 petrol it lacks grunt and tends to be a bit wallowy. Been looking at mpv or small 4x4 vehicles but she doesn't want a diesel. I came across the seat altea, namely the 2.0 FSI sport. It has 148 bhp and hits 62 in 9.5 secs which is fine. Looks well equipped and being a sport model I'd imagine it would be pretty good in the bends. I've had the Leon FR 2.0tfsi in the past and it was a pretty good car. Anyone have any experience or knowledge of the altea? Just want some independent advice on what to look for etc. Thanks.

Does she drive spiritedly enough to make use of the performance and handling then flashy?

Sort of. I drive the Renault quite often and coming from my car I have to adjust my driving style, I look to see if I've left the hand brake on when accelerating, then remember it has an auto Handbrake
There's tons of roundabouts in Swindon where the car spends 90% of the time. Roundabouts it does not like.

Edit. BTW this thread doesn't appear in the recent discussions list. Seems to happen to any thread I start

You just need some one front and one rear coilover and camber the left side of the car

We had an Altea XL SE "Copa" with the 1.6 TDI DSG engine and really liked it. Very spacious for two/three children and the spec was great - sat nav, dab, bluetooth audio, usb, auto lights/wipers, auto dimming mirror, cruise etc. I just felt it was a bit mature for us, even with two kids in our late 20's. We drove to Normandy from Glasgow and back which with the cruise and DSG was amazing. It was replaced with a Focus (Which we also really like) but my wife wants an auto car again - we'll replace the Focus with a Leon FR 1.4 ecoTSI DSG I think. (FN2 is used exclusively by me for short commutes and weekends!)

Some photos here, excellent all round car and superb value for money.
