accident

been out at lunch time from work, pulled up as the traffic had stopped and then the women in front of me decided to put her car in reverse and reversed into me at quite a pace as she was trying to avoid the car in front of her but never though to look in her mirrors, i was in my Mrs's Z4 so that's no going to be a cheap fix, the bumper is damaged and the strengthening bar has been bent in the middle might be more but think the insurance will have to sort this one out, my Mrs has a dash cam so i'm hoping it has recorded the accident, but the women has a black box fitted i'm also hoping this recorded the accident as i believe they record g-forces

Unlucky, I hope insurance sorts this out in your favour.

Thankfully your weren't in the Type S!

My Mrs don't see it that way, but it has made me think of putting a dash cam in my car

Ah yes, no doubt she's miffed.

It's a BMW, so it was bound to be due in the garage soon anyway!

Good call, we hope dashcam's are never needed but when they are then they're invaluable.

Phew, well done mrsG

Yes, I wondered if the insurance companies would argue that you'd run into the car in front but the dashcam should prove you were stationary.

Was referring mentioning it to the other driver.

Many change their tune once they know they got caught out.

Let them lie to both police & their insurer.
They will be punished when they get caught out.

Pretty sure you have to get a crime ref. no for the insurance if the police are involved. It's on tape (well, SD card) so cant argue with that!

In the UK, there's no need to involve the Police in an Accident unless it involves injury. In fact, they're likely to refuse to attend without injury or some threat to safety.

Unfortunately, in the UK very few people ever get done for lying. It's usually only if they lie to a Court or cause the Police to expend and waste a whole lot of time. On many other occasions, they simply get away with it.

As for the case here, hopefully the dashcam proves her at fault and the OP gets 100% blame against the other driver.

if you got done for lying in the uk the police and people who are making such a mess of Brexit would have records as long as your arm as the saying goes

This happened to my boss a few years ago. some guy reversed at the lights and went into the front of him while sat in traffic. All apologetic and stuff then a few weeks later he gets a letter saying he's being claimed against as he went into the back of the other bloke and didn't stop at the lights!
Be interesting to see if she tries this scam and then you whip out the dashcam footage - exactly why i have one and hopefully never have to use it (other than when I forget to charge my gopro and put it in my ep3 for a track day, ha)

Very similar, and extremely dangerous, and POSSIBLY modern technology going wrong, but in free-flowing M6 contraflow near Stoke, in the lane alongside me a near-new Volvo estate slammed on, hard enough for it's hazards to come on, and didn't lock up!!

I looked for 'ways out just in case' and dropped a couple of gears just in case.
Fortunately the 15-year-old A6 estate (Avant?) behind him was up to it and managed to miss - then all carried on as if nothing had happened ...

WEIRD!!

Kept a look out for that Volvo, but I reckon it was a modern technology 'accident avoidance' moment - close to concrete, etc.

I've had a standing in traffic incident before in Aston Tunnels.

Standing traffic and a guy rear ended me. Was out of town and was half asleep when he got out of the car. Was all apologetic and owned up for the mistake. Due to the force of the impact, I hit the car in front which in turn hit another car. Ended being a 4 car incident just because he wasn't paying attention.

Few days later my Insurance company contact me saying I had the accident already with the cars in front and he couldn't stop in time and rear ended me. Lied straight up. I provided my evidence via a written report- in the end insurance

At the time I didn't have a dash cam fitted- in fact I only had the car for 30 days (mk7 civic). Was written off and brought a MK8 civic.

Dash cams are a must these days- too many dodgy drivers on the roads.
