Deteriorating badges

While washing my car this morning I noticed 2 of my Honda badges were starting to deteriorate at the edges - one on the tailgate and the other on the wheel.
I have seen this happen with Ford badges in the past where it was a common problem, and dealers were replacing them free of charge.
Not happy about this because they will get worse.
For the record my car is 7 months old and only done 2500 miles.

It is probably the salt spray from the rods that has caused it .

With the Ford badges it was only the one on the tailgate that was affected so unlikely it was salt spray. It was a design fault....and looks like these ones could be going the the same way.
Regarding salt spray being the cause of the problem, you would expect wheels to be able to resist this for longer than 7 months from new.

Id be going down to the dealers and telling them you want new badges. 7 months and only 2500 miles!? Crazy that your badges have started deteriorating. Get the dealer to replace them.

I've noticed a couple on my wheels are starting to deteriorate, but others in the same conditions are not.
It's possible there have been a couple of 'unfortunate impacts' but otherwise I would have considered their treatment relatively-speaking identical - production quality problem?

Ron,

I noticed that my front Honda badge had started to craze on the H... Sent the details to my local dealer's service manager a month ago.. heard nothing since..

This is where my patience runs out and I contact Honda UK directly...

Al.
I put a warranty claim in for 4 new alloys and it was declined.
My FK2 wheels have corrosion creeping in from the backs(Honda put very little paint on the backs) and the corrosion is making its way to the front spokes.

Honda say its not a manufacture defect and its down to poor maintenance. (IM A PRO DETAILER)

They did that when they were with McLaren 'though didn't they? !!
Must admit over the years with the 8G I had, they helped me out a couple of times.

It shows times are changing I suppose.

That wheel corrosion looks bad enough to raise a small claims if they refuse to address it.

How can they state poor maintenance, what are you supposed to do ?

That was the better wheel.
Warranty claim was rejected/declined so i spoke to Honda customer services and they contacted my dealer who themselves stated to customer services that all 4 wheels were bad and one wheel was really bad.
So then the customer services called me back and said as a good will gesture they will replace the one that is really bad and not the other 3.

Im Not impressed but Thats all they said that can be done and the warranty decision can not be overturned.

Small claims court will involve me buying the wheels from Honda and then claiming the cost back.
Needless to say my FK8 plans are scrapped now.
Worst wheel below.

Back on topic for the OP - COX sell the Badges.

Well, have to say on my part of the front badge on my FK8 CTR. Had a chat with the new service manager at Holdcroft Honda - Stoke and they have ordered me a new badge and will replace under warranty.
Think this dealer's service is about to be changed around for the better.

Happy days.
