Could not find this one in the search, but I was looking on CTRO site and saw a Thread on alarms not working. So as you do I checked mine and guess what……. Yep not a peep . The indicators flash but no siren and the sensors in the car don’t seem to work either !!! Cant believe I have had my car for a few months with no alarm, and probably no bloody immobiliser……. Check yours
Just a bit curious about this one I have a 57 S GT and guess what, flashing indicators and no audible alarm. First thing tomorrow Saturday or not I am off down to the dealers..... again, what a crap service this is turning out to be.
This is starting to sound like a major problem, its a joke how do they build these cars??? Mines a 57 CTR GT (Sept 07) Check your interior sensors if you have some too.
okay i have just returned from the dealership (yesterday), anyway i meantioned about this problems... here it goes!
Basically my car has an issue... the boot door doesnt shut correctly until it is slammed! (long story, but it was hit from behind and well considering there was no visible evidence, there was damage to the inside and now it doesnt correctly shut) so when i showed them that my alarm doesnt sound, lights flashing and all... they said to me the reason for the alarm not working is because of my boot issue!!! yep!!!!
Bearing in mind, my boot DOES shut, just needs an extra bit of force, then what are they talking about...
The other day, i left the fuel cap open to test it, locked the car and left my kids in it, hey presto... lights flashing, no noise... because the fuel cap was open, the alarm doesnt sound!
So last night tested it all again... this time, religously closing every nook and cranny our cars have and once again left the kids in there (i dont make this a habit, i use them for research purposes...lol) and YAY ALARM SOUND!!!!
Just to make this fair... i opened the fuel cap again and locked it, and there you go... lights, no sound!!!
So what have got out of this... i havent a clue! But the principle shows that if you havent secured your car in every way possible then the alarm will not alert you!
Otherwise this experiment was a complete waste of time and there is obviously a problem...
Just back from my local stealer and after considerable debate and a major lack of consideration for my concerns they took the car into the garage and agreed there was a problem that they were "unaware" of so the Hawk is booked in this week. Looking back on the various posts there doesn't seem to be a pattern emerging, no particular variant or build date so it's a check worth carrying out
Car gone in today, got to Honda Wigan at 08:00 hrs like they asked me to and they kindly turned up 15mins late. They asked what the problem was and I said I had no alarm….. He said “are you sure it should have one, did you add it as an option?” My jaw dropped ……. Are you F*$KING kidding me. “It’s a type R” I replied, “I hope so!” Then they gave me a 1.4 Civic whose interior looks like 1500 school kids have eaten pasties and cakes in it!!! Oh this is not a good start!
Just tried a test with a colleague who has a '56' plate EX.
Drivers window down, set the alarm, wait 30 seconds, stick your hand through the open window.
His: siren + hazards
Mine: Nothing. Even reached in and scratched at the ultrasonic sensors. Nothing.
Unlocked the door from the inside, and opened. I just get the hazards and NO siren.
Its becomng evident that we have opened a can of worms and is not an isolated case, please all keep all feedback coming even if your alarm is ok. Its looking like the fault is on late 07 cars and most 08's
Just to re-iterate what I said before, my alarm goes off (lights flash and horn beeps intermitently for 30 secs) if a door is opened without the key. There are however no sensors near the rearview mirror/interior lights, and also the "siren" that people mention is actually the horn on my car. Don't know why there would be a separate siren. The owner's manual states that if the doors are opened with the remote, or the driver's door is unlocked with the key, then the alarm will not go off (obviously). If a door is opened any other way, from inside for example, or if the radio is removed, or even if the bonnet is opened, then the alarm will go off.
Don't know if that helps at all... oh and this was standard on the car from the factory.

There are two types of alarms, by the sound of things yours does not have a siren or sensors if the horn is going off, and only operates on the doors, etc.
I wonder if there's a problem with these latest batches of alarms being installed to these cars???
There even may be a recall soon if more people have these issues!
I've tested mine and locked myself in, then arm the alarm and tried to open door from inside and horn sounds. Good.
But I found that I have sensors close to the interior lights and I was trying to trigger them by knocking but noting happened. Does anyone knows the way I should test them to see if they are working?
I have a 2.2 Sport model (Dutch)

As soon as I unlocked the door with the key the siren went off (didn't even open it). And I tested it with the driver's window open and the motion sensors set off the siren. Flashing hazards both times.
Honda said apparently the sensors don’t switch on if the windows are down, so they cant be tested that way. You need to sit in and keep still for 2 mins then move ! I still don’t believe them on this though

Strange! The dealer just got me to test:
windows down, alarm on, wait 2 minutes, wave arms through window.
He said that should trigger the alarm - it didn't!
As an aside. I made the mistake of telling some people at the pub last night about my alarm doubts. They practically rolled the car over. Guess what, no alarm!
I am now aware of the Ultrasonic sensor function test, I found it by Googling. This involves opening driver’s window, closing doors and locking the doors. Then wait a while about 25 seconds or so, then put your hands inside the window. The alarm should sound, if it does not they should replace the ultrasonic sensor. Funny thing is that they didn’t know about this procedure, its common place with all Alarm sensors on all cars. Idiots
1 month old 08 Type S
Closed door but held on to the door handle. Armed system and waited for alarm to set.
Opened door and horn and indicators.
Dropped drivers window and re-armed, waited for it to set.
Waved arms about inside and nothing.
Unlocked door with door switch and horn / indicators.
There are no mics in my interior light assembly but two grills.
I can only presume it's an impact sensor instead of ultrasonic motion detectors to stop alarm going off when it's windy and the movement happens through ventilation system.
Just checked my July 07 ES. Interior sensors and opening doors with the key all set off the little siren. Alarm functions as normal with the refuel cover open
With the engine hood on the first latch or up, the doors will lock as normal on the remote key however the indicators do not flash; in this situation, the siren is not set as unlocking the doors by the key does not produce the siren.
Alarm fixed and .......................................whey hey !!!!!!!!!!!! Now not working again lights flashing but no siren , Bloody ELL here we go again """ Only lasted 3 days.......Arrrrrggggghhhhhh !!!!
This is becoming very remenisant of the Audi Coil pack problem back in 2002 which made it onto BBC Watchdog I had all 4 coils replaced on my TT over a 4 week period after the replacement coil packs were also faulty !!
Same as everyone else, flashing lights no alarms!
Does anybody know if this could affect our insurance??
Early 07 Type S-GT by the way.
