Starter Motor

Hi everyone
Ive owned my 2007 CTR for 4 months now, 3 occasions during the past week when pressing the Magical START button the starter motor has powered up but not engadged and just made a whirring noise. when released and pressed again the car starts no problem. Would this be something to worry about? Anyone else had this happen. Thanks

it does sound like a starter motor, it will get worse and then eventually let you down. its been a long time since i had to do one but they usually arent that expensive

This was a problem on early Type Rs there is a bulletin on it from honda it requires the flywheel to be replaced. Try your local dealers see what they say...

Mines going into Honda tomorrow for the exact same problem, along with:
- creaking suspension
- climate control going crazy
- 3rd gear not going in properly
- dashboard and parcel shelf rattle

maxxtro would you say Type R 02023 is an early batch? And have you a link to that bulletin from Honda? Flywheel replacement is quite a job like, lets hope they'll do all this under warranty!

Ok so the car jus come out of Honda today...
They changed the Flywheel no questions asked so hopefully this sorts out the starter problem...
I also complained about a creaking noise from the front suspension.. I was told no problems were seen but they have removed greased/lubricated any necessary parts and replaced the front suspension, so all good.
Thanks for the posts guys.
