Climate control affects radio??????

My 2006 ES has developed a fault whereby if you switch the climate control on either by pressing auto or by turning the fan speed up, I lose all signal on the FM aerial and the TP function (don't even know what it stands for, just know it seems to lock in the stations nicely) switches off so I'm left with no radio, just white noise mush.

If I switch the climate off altogether, normal service resumes. Any ideas/help/suggestions before I ask Honda to have a look?

P.S, don't know if it wold make any difference but this is a satnav model so audio display is in the main screen.

I have heard about the demister supposedly interfering with the radio, but this is new (to me).

Checked on my way into work lastnight and noticed that it does get worse if i put the demister on. i wonder if the demister engages itself when you put the auto climate control on. its only just started doing it. ive noticed that the headlights flicker off if i go over a bump aswell. Anything definitive to check before I allow Honda to empty my bank account?

I think you should get it checked out by your dealer ASAP.

No don't think it does, but in the diesel cars (I see you have one), it turns on automatically on a cold day.

As HM said, take it to a dealer.

TP is Traffic Programme - see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Data_System.

Don't know why this switching off should affect the station you are listening to - unless it's a traffic radio station of course

So what is usually the cause when the demister interferes with the radio? Is it a relatively common fault? Above all, is it an expensive one?

I don't believe there is a fix for it, but I may be wrong.
There are some older threads on the topic.
