Worst Rattle Yet!

Anybody experienced a rattle coming from the map reading light area just above the rear view mirror?
Itís driving me insane!
First of all I couldnít pinpoint exactly where it came from until my daughter found it.

My nice tight car is slowly being picked apart by the state of the bloody roads

I think I have the same issue.

The sound starts on a bumpy roads, so I tried to press the ceiling by hand while driving, but the sound is still there.

Yesterday it occurs me to press up the very edge of the ceiling from the windshields side and it seems to me as a better idea. The sound was gone. What I will try to do is to put a thin piece of moderately firm sponge on top of the ceiling but bellow the roof in order to separate ceiling from touching the chassis.

Hopefully, I will solve the problem.

I'll let you know.

Regards

Yes I have had the same rattle coming from the map reading light.

Prise off the cover and you will see a plastic cover thingy that can be removed and does no harm to anything else.

Rattle gone.

The sponge is a solution.

It's gone now. Hopefully, for good.

I never had it on my 8G but on the current 9G I find the drivers side handle in the head cloth makes a really irritating noise. Why a need for a handle on the drivers side puzzles me too.

Panic handles for when things go really wrong

I've been noticing a little rattle on harsher roads that sounds like it is coming the B Pillar / roof area, alternating driver and passenger side, but it's not a major concern as it is only on rougher roads.

Does the cowling around your rear view mirror ever pop off? mine has done it a few times when we did have hot weather.

Never had that issue; Do you have any broken clips? Might be worth popping some trim tape in to hold it / dampen any vibrations.

Haven't required a Sun Visor in Scotland for over a week now, enjoy your heatwave while it lasts down there .

I'll need to take the whole cowling off to see if the clips are damaged. Was going to put a smidging of Silicone where it meets the top of the windscreen so it's easy to pop off if I ever need in there.
