Civics retracting roof / blind / grill mesh

Hey guys has anyone had problems with the civic roof sticking when opening?

I'm finding the front part is sticking when opening then all of a sudden releases it self really fast.

Just starting the car and its back to normal again, so don't know whats going on.

Think i may get them to check it out.

ps has anyone had the grill mesh come lose on the image packs front bumper? I am missing 4 clips that hold it in place and cant find away to fix the mesh to the bumper back in place.

I have the same problem. If you take it to your dealer they should deal with it for you.

i find temperature makes a big differance. the blinds run on plastic shoes inside a runner, it is these shoes that tend to stick and can in some cases split. 99% respond well to some lube in the runners, try that first but the next step is to ask honda to look into it for you.

Mine has just started to do it.

I find that it sticks in the mornings (6am) when the roof is cool/cold and theres a bit of condensation on the glass roof. After it has warmed up later in the day it runs smooth enough. Mine is only the front one as well. wonder why all the problems are with the front one?

I'm guessing the Rear Blind has the power and it operates the front?

Had some warranty work done today and also mentioned that my front blind was sticking and then snapping open.

The dealer said that there is a Honda bulletin about the problem, saying that the silicone grease on the rails needs removing. He was unsure if this required the head lining to come out and was going to look into it further.

Same thing here! And I can confirm that it has to do with temperature! (Here in Greece, it was almost 40C at the day I had the first problem!)

However now, The front part of the roof does not open at all... Have an appointment tomorrow to fix it... They have ordered a part that they are going to replace.

The only thing I am worried about is that they do not make a mess of the roof (dirt on it etc.)

I have had this problem too. The car went to the dealer last week for the work (as per the bulletin) and they said it took them 4-5 hours to complete. So a fairly major strip-down I guess.

It it all fixed now? Did they do a good job?

Mine needs doing but I don't fancy the roof lining coming out, I wouldn't think it would go back as well as before.

They've done a great job. 10/10 to Boston Honda. It seems to be fixed but I don't use the blind that much unless my nephew is in the car (it's about the only button he's allowed to press!!)

Having spoken to the dealer he states that the roof lining has to come out and the silicone grease then has to be removed. Once this is done it should run smoothly. I am a bit sceptical about that and don't understand why is only sticks when the roof is cool, below about 15 degrees. When it warms up it is fine.

Has anyone else found it is when it is cool/cold that it sticks.

I'd just like to amend my previous statement that my blinds are fixed. I tried them out last night - back one got stuck again!!! Argh! Phoning dealer today.

Sensible, I've never noticed a correlation between temperature and the blind sticking to be honest. Yesterday it was 20 ish degrees when it happened.
