Suspension knocking - no final cure at all?

Tere.

2007 Civic, one more month under warranty, typical story - first set bump stops were edited, second was replaced and probably edited too, rear shock absorbers twice and front shock absorbers once changed. Still knocking and knocking when road gives job to shock absorbers.

So after all this last week dealer refused to change (again) front shock absorbers or do more specific tests, as dealer claims, that there is no cure at all, no matter what they replace or do, after a while noise is back and the reason is that as Civic was make a sporty car...

Dealer also said, that every brand new Civic will knock and Honda knows about but won't do anything.

Now what should I do?

Well, I don't know how, as Honda Worldwide | World Links opens local Honda site and there are listed only dealers, not local headquarter etc. and as dealers won't help it's kind of dead end:

So I'm looking something good facts to argue with dealers and force them to fix my car. However, as much I have search in Internet and in this forum, seems that this knocking fault is actually permanent, it always comes back, seems that this is Civic -s suspension in badly designed or the parts, which Honda use, just don't last as (long) they should.

Well lets say I have no supsension knocking at all.
But im one of the lucky ones I guess.

1. see if the CV joints have play in them.
2. There is a problem where the front subfame and body bolt together.
I think there is a fix on here if you search for it.
It might be relieving the stress on this joint when on the chassis jack.
So it is OK until it settles again.

How long does it take for the noise to come back ?

Funny that You did and I didn't find Honda -s data. Thanks!.

Just called to Honda, they promised discuss about this issue and call me back.

About the problem, it’s more like bumping, I'm quite sure, that (bad) shock absorbers are the reason, if the road have so called waves or sleeping policemen’s, (and I'm not speeding) loud "bump, bumps" is hearable. In winter it was much worst, like someone hits with sledgehammer especially to front suspension.

Yes, roads are not perfect here also, but I have never noticed such problem with other cars, sporty or not.

If its a metallic clang it might well be the subframe mounts.

I verify Relic about the subframe. It's a common problem easily fixed.
Just tighten the body bolts in the front subfame and this mettalic noise will disappeared.!!!Later on, change the OEM suspension with an aftermarket kit. If u could go for a Coilover kit than do it with no second thoughts.

This thread - http://www.civinfo.com/forum/bugs-fa...tap-front.html

And "honda service bulletin EMA091016"?

So only to clean, add some grease and thats it? It can't be so easy?

Or I must demand service to change the subframe(s) himself?

i had a knocking small at first then got progressively worse, ithought it was suspension. But it was the n/s front anti-roll bar linkbar, the top knuckle had collapsed but not broke so it looked ok but was f)cked.
Apparently a weak part, which they only sale as a pair at 84 but knocking now cured!! HTH!

Well, Honda headquarter never called back.

But second dealer finally agreed to replace the front shock absorbers. Again. And they was informed about this "clean and grease" solution as well, but skipped this procedure at this moment.
