Help! Boot fault

Hello everyone i have a 2007 civic sport 1.8.
Over the last few months ive had leaks in the boot which i cant resolve.
Firstly should water run down inbetween the rear outer plastic and the inside metal skin? As it comes out of there but not sure if its designed to do this?

Also when it rains heavily i end up with water in the rear, i have found a slow drip on rear light but its minor, ive read it can be gutters but not a clue what or where these are?
Any help please?

Thanks

The gutters are the black plastic rails that run along each side of the roof and terminate at the top of the hatchback.
They can leak in the seam that you will see in the bodywork just below where they end. The sealer sometimes fails and lets water in which somehow gets to the very bottom of the boot.
Somebody recommended some sealer that works for boats etc called Captain Tolleys.......
