How should the fuel hatch work?

Hi all. Bought an 08 Type S GT today and very nice so far.

The fuel hatch wouldn’t close properly upon arriving home and noticed it was something to do with that black L shaped metal prong. Unscrewed it and adjusted it a bit. Seems to be better.

Now when I push it in, it stays put, but I’m still able to get my finger under it and open it manually myself. Is this normal?

I know the main way is the fuel hatch lever under the steering wheel but without this shouldn’t the hatch be completely locked up?

Thanks

You certainly shouldn't be able to open it from the outside.

Got a picture of it closed and open.

Being very dumb here but can't see much of a difference between mine and the picture you've posted? Do I need to push it 'out' a little bit more?

I can see a big difference.

Yours is in line with the protruding bit whereas the Pottsy photo is quite a bit to the left.

I could open my old one from outside.. not uncommon, and I wouldn't worry.
