Hft problem Please someone help!!!

Hi all, I have a problem with the audio system in 2.2 i-ctdi. When I start the car I get the hft symbol appear on the display ( little telephone) and I can't get any sound from the stereo or control it. I also can't see car heater/Aircon temp setting. I have gone through the manual over and over and can't figure out how to disable this feature. But here's the mad bit... The car has no Bluetooth/ phone connection buttons on it. I am completely lost as what to do. It's also very intermittent, done times it's only on for a few seconds and the stereo/ heater temp all come back on but it's now been 2 days stuck on this and I can't get rid of it.
Any help or tips on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance 👍😁

Still can't seem to figure this out, might have to take it to an audio specialist I think. ☹️

Try unplugging the hft module first. Its behind plastic above your right knee. Open the door, side plastic off, one screw, lower plastic under the steering off, unplug the hft. Then check...

Update... I have had the side panel and tray under the steering wheel off but there is no hft module there. I'm just puzzled now 😭

Is your car EX version? Do you have the sat nav? Do you see a plug for the hft?

No it doesn't have the sat nav or hands free. That's why I'm so puzzled. Going to pop to bass junkies tomorrow see if they have any ideas 👍

Can you take a photo of this?
Which display you referring to?
No sat nav=no hft so... unless its aftermarket
