So I've finally decided to sort out the AC in my Honda.
The issue I first tried to deal with is that the AC compressor does not engage when the button is pressed. Maybe only 1 in 10 times does it engage. I have tried changing the AC relay - once with a cheap Chinese version and once with an original DENSO relay. No success with either. The AC rarely engages - 1 in 10 engine starts maybe. This leads me to believe that my relays are fine and there is something wrong with the compressor.
The second issue is that it doesn't blow cold air at all. When I manage to turn it on I can hear a hissing sound which I read means that the system, is very low/empty on gas. I believe that this will be fixed with a regas or at least temporarily fixed.
I have purchased a regas but am yet to book it. I read somewhere that it is possible for the AC clutch not to engage if the system is very low on gas. Could this be the issue here and could it be possibly resolved with the regas alone? Or am I better getting a refund and going to an AC specialist?
Thanks.
