found this screw in my tyre yesterday been told today I will need a new tyre too close to the sidewall so had to order one in at a cost of £105 , gutted still had 7mm tread on it.. just hope it wasn't deliberate...
Happened to me last week I argued with the tyre place but better safe than sorry. 7 mm though thats hard to take. Mine was in the better tyre of the four but 5 mm at best i feel your frustration mate
I know that one. Fortunately mine was repairable. Have learnt since someone been deliberately leaving screws in tyres at work place. Mine was a very slow puncture so don’t know when I picked it up.
Definitely not legal to repair that using the normal cheap technique. Some places may be able to repair that close to the edge but it will cost a lot more.
It is too close to the sidewall to be repaired safely. Only the central 3/4 of the tyre should be repaired according to BSAU159. Doesn't mean it can't be repaired, just that it would be considered unsafe.
Had my civic 7 months and had 2 punctures 1 could be repaired and 1 couldn't. Can't recall last one before that - probably 20 years ago.
When I had my 1.8 I got a screw in the shoulder of the tyre, got it replaced. A week later and the same thing happened to the new tyre. I was not happy.
well had the new tyre fitted today £105 lighter now :crying:
