Car has just been in for its first service. I asked them to rectify the door.
On the second day it went to the body shop, who returned it saying it was too long a job.
The dealer also has had to take photos and send them to Honda, for their approval. I should not expect the door to be fixed until "the new year".
I was also a bit annoyed that we got a phone call from the dealer suggesting that we had done this, and that it was chargeable. Luckily there is now no doubt.
Not too happy, but I guess the display of shoddy Swindon workmanship will be around for a bit longer. As will the rattle above the radio that wasn't fixed as requested...
Had a similar fit problem on my drivers door Pottsy. They took photos and sent them to Honda, who then authorised the work immediately. Door was fixed while it was in for another job.
a) hanging on the door with full body weight and swinging back and forth
b) trying to make it fly like Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang
c) forgetting the key and trying some leverage
d) all of the above
Jayne took the call yesterday suggesting that it might be chargeable, but by the time I was in the dealer, there was no question about it - it was like that from new (I think they had spoken to the salesman who knew all about it). And yes, I was looking forward to a discussion about swinging from doors!
The rest of the service was fine, apart from failing to do the rattle. Bit annoyed about having to wait until the new year, but it's not that bad. At least I got to sample a 1.4! (Which wasn't that bad - odd rubbery ride, less tyre noise, went OK when drifting along with normal traffic, but ran out of steam as soon as you asked anything of it).
I didn't mention the site - and I didn't even stick a Civinfo sticker on the back of the 1.4! What was I thinking?
Hope Honda don't mess around and allow the dealer to fix this soon.
Door alignment on my passenger side was poor, the rear door was badly out of alignment. The dealer tried a quick adjustment but it didn't make much difference. They took pictures and sent them to Honda. When they still hadn't recieved a reply after 6 weeks, they decided to fix the alignment of both doors without Honda approval. Although they made a good job (better than Swindon) They broke plastic clips that hold the plastic arround the wheel arch. They replaced them the following week.
Well, it just went back for 3 days (!) and has come back partially done. The door is now aligned, but the rubber seal is now wonky, and the car has gained a scratch (second one from this dealer) and a bit of tank tape. Apparently they are waiting for parts, and will call me when they arrive....
Pottsy, from what I read on the forum, I am becoming less than impressed by the standard of workmanship carried out by the dealers. Did it really take three days to align a door, mess up the trim and scratch the paint; and it's not finished yet ?
I reckon my local garage would have charged about £50 for that job, and done it properly.
We have the same problems is the US with US and Canadian built Civic sedans.
