Called into a mates spray paint shop for a quote on colour coding the bumpers on my Type S. He took a look at my roof and said there is a recall on a certain batch of Honda Civic as the windscreen rubber strip cuts the paint.
Off i went to Honda and they said its covered, so a new respray and rubber strip on the roof with a brand new Honda Civic to test drive for a couple of days as a courtesy car.
Below are some pics of my roof in a mess.. ill post some photos of when its all done!
Mine got fixed with little hassle, dealer took some pictures, put in a warranty claim with Honda UK, got it approved...booked it in.
Had a courtesy car for free - a Nissan Note, not a great car but perfectly adequate transport for the week (it was a high spec one, cruise control, sat nav, privacy glass, climate, half leather etc!). I and had the car back within 5 working days. They did a pretty decent job really, you cant tell any difference! The car was fixed by Brindley in Cannock but the branch I dealt with was Brindley Wolverhampton. No quibbles at all really, really happy - I should mention though that a mate of mine works at the garage, although he was not directly involved in any part of process to get the work authorized!
Car is an 08 CTR, 40k miles, with full Honda service history. Last corrosion check conduction in 2012.
You are really lucky . My car was done by Brindley Halesowen.Very unproffesional people.Told me to pay 10 pounds,(for each day) for a courtesy car, fixed the windscreen seal in wrong position( seal didn't cover glass).I booked another appointment to move the seal on the wright position and they have told me that they used addeshive to fixed the seal. New paint on the roof is slightly darker than bodywork.
Have you bought car from them? Call to them to arrange an appointment and take with you service book if you have one.
They give me an answer next day.
Once they fixed your car (before you drive away), make sure that job done by them is ok!!!
I need to arranged another appointment with them cos. my windscreen seal was placed badly.
Dropped my car into my local dealer yesterday, they've been great helping me out and I should have my car back when I return from work in a couple of weeks time
my 2007 1.8 Sport (black) went in on Monday (22nd) to West End Honda Broughty ferry, Dundee , was given a new CR-V as a courtesy car (horrible HORRIBLE car to drive), got my Civic back on Tuesday evening. Looks like they did the whole roof, excellent service
Hi guys, my 56 plate has the beginnings of rust at the top of the windscreen like so many others. I only bought the car last week and the previous owners haven't kept the service history up to date. The car has only done 40k but has just the first 2 stamps in the book.
How should I deal with this? Am I within my rights to take this to my local Honda dealership and ask for it to be repaired under the recall?
I got my car done about a month ago at the honda garage in Inverness. It's a 57 plate NHB CTR. Couldn't fault them one bit.
Top service, once the photos were taken and the claim submitted to honda uk they phoned back within two days and the car was booked in and I was given a courtesy car.
My car was rusting on the drivers inside door underneath the rubber took it to my local dealership who took pics of it and waiting for honda uk to see what they do.
Anyway its been 5 years, not heard anything from them yet, car has been sold off long ago. Lol
My car was left into the dealership this morning, photos taken and sent to Honda , it has been refused repair apparently. Have got in contact with Honda directly to find out how it wasn't picked up upon with it being serviced at the honda dealership every year for the past 6 years , that such an important structural part of the car can be ignored in this way and from my understanding an issue that should be resolved no questions asked within a 12 year structural warranty?
Also I would like to know why they seem to pick and choose who should and shouldn't have this fixed.
Had my 08 Type R valeted last weekend and noticed the rust above the seal. Bit of a shock really as I look after my car. Jumped online and found out from here it was a known problem. Car has full service history but only initial Honda stamp. Called Brown Brothers of Peebles and the guy said it would be a waste of his time even looking at it never mind submitting it to Honda UK because it didn't have a full Honda service history.
I pointed out that it was a known issue and that I had bought the car second hand and also that I had been looking at this forum and that a lot of people had had the issue repaired even with no HSH. He basically called these people (and me) liars!!! I called Western Honda in Edinburgh, told me to take it in yesterday, took photos of roof and service book and said he'd be in touch. Got a call this morning telling me it was accepted no problem and it's booked in for the 16th September. I am one happy bunny. To Brown Brother Peebles, go f@ck yourselves you lazy ****s. Customer service obviously not high on their agenda.
had my 27k service and corrossion check it seems mine is rusting also ,My honda dealer have agreed it's rusting and put the claim in will have to wait a few days for the go ahead .
Just took my car in for the rust on the roof on a 57 civic. The honda dealer was very helpful and said it's very promising on getting it re sprayed. They also said I get a courtesy car if it goes in. Good job I've joined this group or I would have never known. Will update if it gets fixed. If it helps anyone else I'm in Sheffield

I'm just waiting for mine to be approved at Stoke Honda. Took it down on Friday and awaiting their response. They said they have about 4 to do at the moment so keeping the bodyshop busy! Should be about 4 weeks too if it's all approved as to when they can fit mine in.
I've just been having a look at my Civic SE FK3. Now, there is no apparent rust on show, however there looks to be bubbling on the paintwork near the rubber strip.
My car will be 6 years old in November 2014. I bought the car from an independent dealer a month ago, but the first couple of services were done at Honda dealerships, with then a service at an independent and then the garage I bought it from serviced and MOT'd it before I collected it.
What are my chances of a FOC repair from Honda if it is preliminary rust?
I took mine in Friday before last and it goes in Tuesday which is pretty good service
