Called into a mates spray paint shop for a quote on colour coding the bumpers on my Type S. He took a look at my roof and said there is a recall on a certain batch of Honda Civic as the windscreen rubber strip cuts the paint.
Off i went to Honda and they said its covered, so a new respray and rubber strip on the roof with a brand new Honda Civic to test drive for a couple of days as a courtesy car.
Below are some pics of my roof in a mess.. ill post some photos of when its all done!
I know even if their was a recall in the UK they wont accept it saying this is an australian model.
I'll just say, they are made on the same line, treated with same anti-rust and painted in same area, uses same body panels, same engine, same suspension.
The only thing australian is the trim.
Got my 57 plate CTR roof wrapped and had the vinyl tucked under the rubber. The laquer had just started to craze so hopefully this'll stop any more chaffing!
Honda not interested as it hadn't been main dealer serviced on the last one before I bought it.
Well pleased with the carbon wrap and fraction of the price of a respray.
i bought a 09 se just over a month ago, had a few problems with it since... but in the garage just now to get sorted, one off them is rust on the roof, checked mine last week after reading another thread on here about the the roof, one of the threads i read the guy had to get a new roof fitted as the rust pitted the roof, most of the roofs just get part painted and gets blended in. the problem isnt deemed a safety issue so it doesnt justify being a recall
I had the car back yesterday with a new respray and rubber seal, everything looks good and the finish is good also. However there is a small gray blemish on my windscreen like primer paint ?
Glad you are happy looks a good job. Mine went in yesterday I am very nervous because they have my CTR for 3 days and you don't know what they will get upto in it
Where you booked in at dude ? Had mine in at blackpool....did a piss poor job first time round, tiger stripes up the front and **** under the paint at the back, took it back two days ago to have it done again but havent heard anything !
I may end up there......my car has been to honda blackpool twice now, I have what can be described as tiger stripes up the front of my roof, it is unacceptable and would tell anybody on here to not have any paintwork done at blackpool honda. I will be ringing them tomorrow and playing holy hell, they have had my car for 3 days this time and nothing has been done, it looks crap.
i had mine done and was well pleased, then the other day when i was cleaning the car i noticed where i used to put the "shark fin" at the rear centre of the car thier must have been some sticky residue and they clearly didnt clean the car before spraying as you can see the outline of this!!! really pissed off tbh will get pics tomorrow
Got my car back on Friday. When I got to the dealership checked the roof and it looked good so I checked the rest of the car (I am very fussy) and the idiots have damaged my brand new 2 week old GP spilter
Showed the dealer the damage and they said it's not us and rang the bodyshop and blamed them. Luckly I was at Trax the day before and took loads of pic's of the car which show no damage to the spilter.
They said they will sort it out on Tuesday so I have to go 40 miles out of my way and 3-4 hours of my time to get it repaired.
The thing that has made me so mad is when I got home I had a closer look at the damage and the idiot who must of damaged it has tried to T-cut it.
So that person knew they had damaged my car and tried to cover it up then hoped I would not spot the damage.
Now I have just washed my car and there is 4-5 little dimples in the new paintwork.
Take it back til you are happy with it...blackpool honda (COX Motor Group) Have had my car twice now, wouldn't let them paint my fence nevermind my roof again, I have informed Honda UK and I will be taking it somewhere else to get it painted properly.
The rusty roof is part of a recall and it will be on the Honda system if yours is in the chassis range that the recall was subject to. I was told that mine is outside the chassis range.
I tried to get information on what the range was, but Bill said that he couldn't remember off the top of his head but it's on the system.
Anyway, he has taken photos and will try to submit it to Honda and see if they'll come back and do it under goodwill but it is outside of the three year warranty period and would not be covered under normal warranty and it's not in the recall range. He did say you can see it bubbling the paint though so we'll just have to see what Honda say and I should find out by the end of the week.
Fair play to Gordons at Wigan, they are doing everything they can to help me out.
You never know Honda may extend the chassis range if more cars not in the current recall come forward with the issue.
I got rust on my 09 cw .... and it's heart breaking to see everytime I wash my car.
But my warranty ran out a while go I believe... should I still take it into the dealers or get my own quote from somewhere else?
My car's been serviced by independent specialist garages since the 2nd service.
My car is in now getting the work done. I guess it depends on where you take it. The chap in service said the Honda system only asked for the mileage and date of the last service when he was putting the claim through, and not whether it was done at a main dealer or not.
My local dealer has been great so far (Gatwick Honda) went in for them to have a look and even before they saw the car they told me it was a warranty issue and was a known problem, took a couple of pictures and just asked for the mileage and what the milage was at the last service only had 1 service done by them 2 years ago too. They sent off the claim and got approval within a few days.
Booked in next month, got a courtesy car too!
(going to be selling the car in a couple months so at least it will be mint)
