Called into a mates spray paint shop for a quote on colour coding the bumpers on my Type S. He took a look at my roof and said there is a recall on a certain batch of Honda Civic as the windscreen rubber strip cuts the paint.
Off i went to Honda and they said its covered, so a new respray and rubber strip on the roof with a brand new Honda Civic to test drive for a couple of days as a courtesy car.
Below are some pics of my roof in a mess.. ill post some photos of when its all done!
Ok, so car taken in yesterday for the 2 hours clean and revised rubber seal installed. Bodyshop called this morning to say that the damage would not clean up so new pictures have been submitted and approved by HUK for the proper clean and respray at no cost to me. Very happy at the mo
Took mine (07 plate 2.2) into the local Honda dealers - their service guy looked at it and said its no longer covered as a) it was an 07 and b) it has done 125k miles!
Does anyone know if this is the case, or should I try again, maybe through HUK?
My CTR is a 07 plate mate but i'm only on 35k miles, in my case Honda was only interested in the service history not mileage. I guess its down to the dealer to attempt to make a claim and all jurisdiction is with HUK for the work.
I had the same problem with the honda dearler I got my car from.
Told them contact honda there self and ask them about it so they did then a Guy from the garage took a few pictures sent them to honda and it was fixed in no time
Honda paid for every thing.
I had a verbal with HUK and was told there is a bulletin mentioning bubbling paint on the roof and rubber seal its vague apparently but nevertheless they wouldn't disclose much else.
Excellent - thanks all. The car's going back there for a service on tuesday (they offered a crazy good deal) so will raise it with them again then and push it from there.
Had mine develop this issue over the winter, rust along the entire screen and bubling starting on the passenger side - 07 CTS- is an August car so just gets in under the 6 years, fsh till 12/2011 and a honda approved check in April 2012 - G&M Honda in Gravesend were really good putting through my claim and had approval within 2 hours. Just wating for the body shop availability and ordering of the new strip then I can get the car in for respray. Happy days!
A few weeks ago I also spotted rust on the rooftop of my type-s. Didn't know it was a common fault before searching civinfo.
Went to a Honda dealer (not the one I bought it from) and told them my problem, that it is a common fault and asked if he could sent a warranty claim to Honda.
He knew about the rust problem but said that, due to the age of my car (late 2007), and missing one of the body inspection stamps I probably didn't apply for a warranty claim. However, he took some pictures and sent the claim to Honda Netherlands.
Two weeks later I got the call that they are going to fix it free of charge.
Really really happy about honda NL and civinfo for the civic info!
Just took my roof bars off and noticed mine is starting to happen under the paint.
Is it best to contact HUK direct?
Anyone got the best details to contact?
I had FHSH and the last one was done at ABP, MOT and recall was done at Honda also in January and they checked over the car, didn't mention this though, I wonder why
I was in today at my local Honda dealer and they took paint depth measurements, photo's and looked at my full Honda service history as they are supposed to do an anti corrosion check each time. Said all the info would be sent to HUK and I would hear back next week but he said it should be covered ok. Mine is a 2008.
only just noticed this issue today on my 2007 civic, ive just purchased the car around a month ago and it was serviced by non honda garages the last few times but has around 3 honda dealer stamps at the start, what would anyone reccommend me to do??
cheers
My car 2010 Champ White Type R is showing obvious signs of rust and paint blistering along the entire length of the roof seal.
Got it booked in Friday lunch time for the usual inspection and photographs.
Fortunately I always use the same Honda Dealer for my sevicing and I purchased my car with 5 years servicing included.
I will update this post when I get the results of the inspection.
Can anyone confirm that the window seal design has changed as I don't see the point of doing this work and using the same type of seal as it will just be a matter of time until the problem returns.
Dealer said the new seal has a revised rubber compound, Bodyshop gave me 3yr warranty paperwork on completion so if it comes back, im going back will get honda to check it every year though!
Took my car into dealers on the way home.
Service manager took some photographs and assured me that it would be completely covered by warranty.
He explained that the roof will get a full respray and new softer seal.
No need for service history etc, just a note of the mileage.
I will get a phone call next week to book it in and they will provide a courtesy car.
I will probably get a few other bits & pieces of paintwork done at the same time, maybe ask for a quote for a front end respray to get rid of the stone chips on bonnet & bumper.
Just had a phonecall fom the dealer while I am typing this.
Work been approved by Honda and car goes in on the 1st of May.
Must say a big thank's to WEST END HONDA, BROUGHTY FERRY, DUNDEE, for first class service as always.
Delighted.
Honda are clearly jokers. As if having Honda history makes a difference to the gash paintwork!! Hope you all get things sorted free of charge guys! Makes me really glad I managed to grab a glass roofed model!
