Remote key failing sometimes

ellow,

other people have had their key failing on them when truying to close/open the civic from distance?
i have been to the dealers already but they cant seem to find the issue, they have already contacted honda about it but havent heard from them.
When the key fails i can still open the doors manually, I also havent found a pattern in it, it just happens random and not that often, 5 times over the past 5 months i have had the car.

grtz

Yes, I get the same.

On a a couple of occasions I have had to use the key.

There are other threads on this also.

Happened to me once and then remote started working again. I put it down to interference.

I've no idea how it could happen, or even if its valid - but could it be to do with the rolling code getting out of sync with what the car is expecting?

And then using the key in the ignition re-syncs somehow?

Spot on - It's happened to me a few times in Public car parks, a few times in the work car park and a few times at home. Considering the hundreds of times I have unlocked my car - this has only happened 5-6 times so not a huge problem - kinda embarassing if someone is with you! lol

Once you unlock the car with the key - if you lock this up again using the remote then this works fine!

Hi all. If you open the door with the key manually, it doesn't do something stupid and set off the alarm does it? I know my SGT has a cat 1 alarm so don't really wanna face the embarrassment of my own alarm going off AS WELL AS the fact your remote control is screwed. Just wanna be prepared

My Audi does this quite a lot too, don't know if i'm hitting the button in my pocket repeatedly with my keys and sometimes i know i just sit and click the button when i'm bored and when i realise i have to re-sync it again but opening it with the key and pressing the lock button when its in the ignition.

i got the same once...but i thought that it was a characteristic of the alarm system. I think that it has something to do with the double lock feature. You can always use the key to bypass the alarm and finally open the car. If you do so then everything works fine

i have experienced the same just yesterday...in an underground park station...and i think i realized what is going on...it happened to me when i used, for the first time, the control to open the door of the park station which is electric too....so i suppose that it has to do with the frequency of the signal of the two controls....that is my conclusion ....!

I have the same problem. Randomly the key fails and I cannot find any pattern. I went to the dealer and they say that is a well known problem. According to them, Honda is working on it but apparently they don't have the solution yet.
