New ecu 1300!!!!

Hi, had major issues with my 2.2 cdti car starting, would show engine light then vsa light then airbag, would turn over but not start. After 3 garages couldn't sort, had aa tow me to Honda. Had horrible feeling would be ecu issue and sure enough not something simple, they said needs new ecu, 1300. Excellent. Told them not got those sort of funds but after spending all day on the phone, no other garage can resolve!!! Any final suggestions??? Honda aren't interested in getting the ecu repaired by the way.

If its 100% confirmed its not a wiring issue, have they at least tried reflashing it first? Or can they at least fit a donor one just to try before you commit to buying one?

Or even get them to plug the ecm into another car and see if the fault moves?

They put a donor ecu in. Asked them if they could fix it, they said no! I was told it's not possible just to take an ecu from another car and put it in? Not that well informed on these things.

No, stock ecu, car just started having starting issues and then wouldn't start at all.

Yes and no.

You have to make sure it is the same part number.
And even then they may say no as you could have stolen it.

Hard to say really.

Assuming that this dealership is happy to fit second hand parts, then yes. Fitting is easy, but they'll also need to recode it for your locking/immobiliser system. which needs specialist knowledge and equipment.

Use the Lings website... Honda Car Parts / Genuine Honda Parts | Honda Cars | Honda Motorcycles | Honda Power Products | Lings Honda to find the correct part number for your ECU/ECM (or Control Module, Engine as Honda call it)... you'll probably find it in the 'control unit, cabin' schematic.

Once you find the ECU (CM,E) it will show a Lings part number... this can be converted to the universal Honda part number by either putting it back into the Lings search box, or delete the characters '_pfk' from the web address/URL (which magically converts all part numbers on the schematic to Honda part numbers). Hope that all makes sense?

I'm not saying they are wrong, but I have seen so many dealer reports recommending new ECU required for cars which is just plain wrong and it turns out to be something else. It's usually the token response when they either haven't got a clue or haven't checked everything else.

Phone Elite tuning in Leeds, they should be able to sort out your ECU for you.

Might have a result, spoke to manager of the repair center and asked I'd it would be okay to supply the part myself. He said would be okay but obviously no guarantee that it would Defford work, but must get a part from same year and even month if possible.

I would go to Elite or TDI and avoid the dealers as they won't be much help beyond fitting and saying if it worked or not.

Is that the same as Premier Tuning in Halifax? I've never seen Fahad offer to repair ECUs on the TypeAccord forum that he runs... in fact, he and I both contributed to a recent thread there regarding a probable replacement ECU... Reoccurring Fault Code - Faults - TypeAccord but I'm sure they could fit one and recode it as necessary with their HDS.

I had a problem similar to this with my 2.2 cdti and it turned out to be the emergency fuel shut off switch in the side of the dash
