Start Button - Have you spotted this yet?

I have had my Civic since July, but last night I spotted something really cool for the first time.

It was dark, I get into the car, keys in the lock, and I press the illuminated Start Button. At the same time I wondered to myself 'When does the Start button illumination go off, or is it on all the time'.

Then just as I was watching it and wondering, it slowly dimmed off.
This dimming was not in time with any other interior light dimming.
Honda have gone to the trouble to fit a time delayed dimming circuit to the Start Button. It would have been so easy to just make it go off once the engine was started, but not Honda! This is so nice

I'm sad enough to have noticed this too; and it even comes back on if you stall!

I noticed this too while fiddling around in the first few days of ownership.

I even tried pressing it again after the engine had been started (result obvious) and seeing if a quick "press and release" would be enough to set the process going, (er, no).

You should try it in the i-Shift!

To start the car, the door has to be shut, the gear in neutral and your foot on the brake!

My old hyundai coupe, you had to have your foot on the brake to engage the immobiliser.

But your routine sounds abit long tho haha

This is the procedure for the i-Shift in full.

1. Go out to car
2. Press unlock on remote
3. Let Amber in the back
4. Open driver's door and sit down.
5. Shut driver's door.
6. Turn key twice
7. Put Foot on brake pedal
8. Shift i-Shift lever into neutral
9. Check 'N' is not flashing
10. Press start button

By the time I've done that, I'm too tired to drive!!

What happened to checking mirrors etc and fastening seat belt on you and Amber?
