Seatbelt symbols in the Multifunction Display

I wonder if someone can tell me if I'm being a bit slow......

I've noticed that if I have the multifunction display showing the current seatbelt situation it doesn't appear to show the status of the front passenger?

By this I mean when I look at my display I can see the three rear seats are people without belts, if I plug the belts in, the symbols change, all well and good in the rear!
The larger person on the left of the display is permantely wearing their belt regardless of if the belt is on or off, I assumed this was for the front passenger?

Any help appreciated!

I think the larger person on the left is just there for show. If the passenger seatbelt is not fastened when there is a passenger present an alarm will beep and display a large fasten seatbelt icon on the multifunction display.

There is sensor on the front passenger seat and you'll get a visual (red seatbelt warning light on dashboard) and audio warning if not put on. No sensors in the rear as they can't be 100% sure of the width of the person's behind.

You will get an alarm if if taken off whilst in motion so you know which brat to shout at.

Phil.

Thanks for all the replies Gents.

Seems an odd choice by the programmers and a waste of a large icon but hey at least I know it's normal!
