Question HID Lights

I did do a search I just wanted to know what the cost of HID lights where for the CIVIC.

I currently have a Civic Type R and for some reason they dont put HID lights on these, but as the lights are the same (to my understanding) I should be able to get some CIVIC HID Lights and replace my ones on my civic and keep (hopfully) all the standard features like:-

Hight Adjust
Auto Lights

the reason I'm asking is I dont want to fit after market becuase they never give the correct pattern and can fail your MOT (not that I got one any time soon)

If your actually looking for original Honda ones and your in the UK you will struggle. You also need self leveling and headlight washers to be legal

Have you seen the Honda HID's, I don't think they are much better than normal lights. Not worth the effort in my opinion.

Agreed Honda HID's are naff, not in any way as good as proper HID projector lights. Save yourself the money and hassle na buy better bulbs, I did and they are far better.

HIDs aren't worth it in my opinion. I use HID bulbs in my scuba diving torch - they give a far better light underwater (especially in murky UK waters) but they are far more exensive (about 80 for a 10w) and brittle than normal bulbs and you significantly reduce their life if you don't give them a good 30 seconds between switching on and off to warm up and cool down.

Then there are always issues with the ballast and the current supply - give me halogens ones any day!

Precisely!
They may not be as good as the BMW/Audi equivalents but they're better than any standard bulb you can get and they aren't going to give you the nice 'burst' of light when they are switched on

Plus you have to remember these come as standard on the top-spec level of the Civic, they are extras on the equivalent Golf and A3! VW were looking 750 for them on the Golf GT!

I have installed HID's in my civic Slim kit H7R 6000K and only I can say is that I will never use standard bulbs on any future car.....difference is very noticeable and especially at night time plus car looks very nice with them....

Its funny how the 2.2 EX is the 'Top Spec' but the Type R is the flagship car for Honda and they fail to supply or even give the option in the UK

You'd think that the high performance version ( Type R ) would have them as standard . Have them on mine; IMOH they are an improvement over normal lights but not outstanding ( noticeable improvement on illumination to the sides ). Has anyone upgraded the standard HID bulbs ( ie changed to 6000 K bulbs )

Just another one of many ingenious decisions by Honda Management!
Why they couldn't offer the option baffles me, they're losing money by not!! I certainly would never buy a car without Xenons anymore and if Honda aren't going to offer them it would potentially put me off going for a Type-R. You never know maybe they'll wise up and include it as a mid-model revision!
The Cooper S and Golf GTi come with the option of Xenons so why not the Type-R? Honda??!!!

Before I bought the CTR I said I wouldn't buy a car without a rear wipe and without Xenons....So I bought a CTR without Rear wiper and without Xenons

6000K is not upgrade, but degradation.
They look more bluish, but pure light intensity is lower.
4100/4300K bulbs give highest intensity of light (and it's also white color).
