HELP - Drivers side window playing up

Hi guys,

I've had to come up to my flat leaving my drivers side window open, plus its -2d outside!

Basically i just dropped my mrs off to work (6am), i pressed my auto window screen button for it to come down so i could wipe the ice off the wing mirror (heater also broke)

When i pressed it to come up, it goes half way then comes straight back down, if i hold the auto button up, it goes a bit further but comes straight back down.

Could anyone help me? I live in a top floor flat and my car is currently on the car park out of sight with its window wide open

Have you tried holding the "up" button half way (so that it is on manual rather than auto up)? Sounds like it's finding something to block the auto up function and so for safety it retracts.

I opened the door and it seemed to work. I have the window reset sequence at the ready if it happens again.

I can't see it being the wind deflecters.

It does sound like the 'finger pinch' mechanism kicking in.

I suppose a hairdryer round the rim to get rid of any lodged ice to test.

Was just a bit odd that with the door open it worked fine, but with it closed it didnt.

Unless the "finger pinch" is only active with the door closed.

Could be the rubber seal on the window, it could be friction. Put some wd40 around the rubber bit where the window comes out of
