ABS and VSA system warning light

Hi everyone, I went to Wales last week and on my way home Check ABS and VSA system warning light came on. I pulled over my car and turned off engine and turned on again but warning light still stayed on.

On my way home I had to do an emergency break for stupid driver in a round about and ABS didn't work but luckily no damage was done.

Next morning I turned the car on and warning lights disappeared. I checked with torque pro apps with obd2 connector but no error was found. It's been 4 days since the error message disappeared and car is driving as it should be.

But what can I check to find out what's wrong with ABS and VSA. Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks

If it was me, and brakes are involved, I'd get a dealer to check. ABS light and no actual ABS!

They may have other tests they can perform

Dealer will rip you off. Read other threads about it. It can be as simple as break fluid level.

Do I have to take the car to a dealer?

Not necessarily a dealer but somewhere with a code reader. I would guess its a faulty abs sensor, but without plugging it in anyone would just be guessing

Check the fuse underbonet. No 3 40/20 amp

Could a low battery also cause this fault? Im sure I read this somewhere.

Had to call the AA before Christmas due to a dead battery and when the AA man ran the test he said the battery needed replacing but I haven't gotten round to it yet and has been starting no problem.

It could as well as jump start could have burnt the fuse.

could be a number of reasons for light lights on. you need a garage that has a system that reads dealer p-codes to be sure its scanned correctly,, we use a delphi system at work i also got a autocom cdp+ for my own personal use ordered it from china and its really good reads all codes allows me to encode injectors or fuel pumps and regen dpf's on most cars,, well worth the £60 it cost, infact its a china version of delphi in all ways,, without correct software fixing these kinds of issues can get expensive if guessing what to replace is used, or even a garage bill is not cheap..

I only spent 10.69 quid on fuse. Solved. Uf you know what you're doing no need for read.

Have you checked the brake fluid level? Does the Civic have a brake warning light or would it use these other two lights?

If it was a genuine ABS fault there would be a notification in the dash fault display, it would also be logged in the fault code storage.

big black one that is screwed to the box under bonnet (only two like that ) If it is ok then scan will be the quickest way to show other possible reasons.

Honda did diagnostic check and errors related to NSF wheel speed sensor or wheel bearings. But they suggested not to change anything as check system sign is not on constantly. Technician suggested me to give a good clean by taking off disk and callipers. Any idea how do I take callipers and disks off? Haven't done it before.

19mm 2x bolts on back lever caliper off disc, disc has a screw in the middle prob need to hit end of screw drive while turning it helps to shock them out, easier way take it to pressure washer and give the inside on the hub around where the drive shaft goes in to bearing and hub, then a spray of wd40 but not on brake disc of course, the sensor wires tend to break where they go in to the sensors on wheel sensors because its all in the water and grim and wind etc so moves around alot until copper wire breaks inside the black outside covering

I had this happen a lot on a Citroen I used to own. Restart the car and issue went away. I believe it was caused by a dying alternater.
