I got mine fitted by my dealer and colour coded.
They work very well and match the paint perfectly

There is a HUGE thread in the how to section that covers ones from ebay and how much they cost with relative successes of each.

If you have a look through, there are two types:

One at about £18 for the kit that works for most people but some have issues with. There is a very good guide to fitting them.

Another is a kit for about £80 that seems better quality and have been used by people who had problems with the cheaper ones.

There are also details on the thread of how to colour code sensors and the paint codes that you need for the various colours of civic.

Good luck!

A Alternative Answer

Here's another thought!

Meta SR2 Targa Parking Sensor System from Halfords Was £99.99 Save £50.00 Price £49.99 1/2 Price!

They'll even come round your house and fit, for around £45.

......no Vivid Blue paint needed there either!

I went for the £75 Steel mate ones which are great (but only come in black)

You could try the cheap cisbo ones or go for the dolphin ones (both have many colours you can choose) The Dolphin ones won an award from Autoexpress.

This looks like a good and easy option (which I like) to reversing sensors but my concerns are that the tailgate surface where the number plate is mounted is not vertical so the sensors would end up pointing upwards slightly. Also the number plate is quite high off the ground, sensors on the bumper are usually much lower.

I wonder if the number plate mounting can be adjusted or shimmed to cater for sloping surfaces!

Has anyone had any experiences, good or bad, with one of these devices?

Mike

I had the Targa SR2 on a Mazda RX-8. It worked very well, and was easy to install.
BUT.
They cannot be mounted more than 80cm off the ground, and I think are limited to less than 10 degree from the vertical.

It would look a bit out of place on the back of a civic as the numberplate is not recessed like it is on other cars.

installed today £ 49 all in

The wiki explains it all 2.5 hrs start to finish.
used "dolphin parking sensors" took 1 day to arrive colour coded to your cars colour.

The hardest part is removing the bumper push hard and pull outwards to lift it away from the body of the car, read the wiki.

Brown wire goes to red, that's it.
