Is the software communicating with the HIM OK?

Have you turned the ignition on?

Hi
What type of the usb to serial converter You use?
There are 2 types generally
PL2303 cheapest but sometimes not good
also I used Unitek with Y-105 driver with positive
FT232 -2-nd generation the best for OBDII transmision.
good luck

no not at the mo
i have tried 2 usb to serial adapters one a PL2303_Prolific
the other a FTDI CHIPSET
when i go to connect it to the car it says

HDS has been unable to confirm connection to the vehicle
just yellow and green light flash

but it will update the unit if i press the enter button on the hds unit
it is on com port 1 running windows xp

also if i use the obe scan tool that came with the hds software this works

Mine done the same but wasn't able to update the unit as it wasn't connecting to my laptop.
If it's updating then it must be a connection from the him to the car
I'm guessing you can connect a normal obd2 scan tool to the car ok ?
