Automatic door locks?

Automatic door-locks at 16kms/h

a) Get inside your car
b) Close the door
c) Place key on ignition and set it to position II
d) Press the door lock button until you hear the second door lock sound
e) Remove key from ignition

Start your car and drive away, at 16km/h the doors will automatically lock! At least on the portuguese Exclusive version this works ...

Curious how you found this out. Is it in the manual?

I suspect there may be a whole range of things that can be tweeked and adjusted.

Does the CIVIC have 'coming home lights'

Do they stay locked until you manually unlock them again or do they come off again automatically when you go below 16kmph?

If they are anything like the Golf, they stay locked, until you either

a; manually unlock them

b; remove the key from the ignition.

Nothing more frustrating as a passenger than being stuck in the car until the key comes out. Dangerous, in some ways IMO.

Remove the key; does this enable it every time or do you have to do it every time you get in the car for it to work? a bit fustrating if so.

Doesn't work on mine, unless I'm doing something wrong. I assume the "door lock button" I should press is the one on the key - nothing happens.

Is there another door lock button other than on the key ?

I guessed that he meant the door lock button on the arm rest; next to the windscreen buttons.

No, it's not on the manual, at least not on our manual!

They stay locked and you have to manually unlock them (either the driver or the passenger) unless you have the power-locks, then they unlock automatically has you remote the key from the ignition (tought i've not tried it because mine does not have the power-locks)

Removing the key activates the system, you do not have to repeat it!

Sorry to have mislead you, its the door lock on the arm rest of the drivers door, the one that closes\opens all of the doors, not just the driver door! And you have to press it for a few seconds until you hear the second "door lock activation"!

On the Skoda Octavia using the handles doesn't override the locking.
