Average MPH

Can you reset the average MPH, it has been at 20mph since buying the car and I am going on a long motorway journey and want to know if it can be reset before I make this journey. I have read the huge manual but can't find anything relating to an average mph reset.
thanks

oh, I don't know. I assume it can be done on its own...

*goes out to check*

Holding it down resets the ave. speed, and also trip A. Trip B remains unchanged.
