2006 2.2 Satnav issues

Hi there,

I've got some problems with my Sat Nav.

Just bought the car, and this is the error I get occasionally when I start it up -

And then this

There is a disc in it. I've contacted the good fella on here about getting a newer up to date one which I'm hoping might kick start it.

Otherwise it's backlit and works that way, but how can I fix it? I really don't want to have to replace anything, I'm hoping there will be a hard reset or a way to restore factory settings?

Help?

In the dark recesses of my memory I seem to recall that that may be caused by a previous new disc abort.

If you go into the diagnostics area, plenty of tutorials highlighting the three finger salute, there is one menu that you can force a 'download'.

Do that, let it finish, then see what happens. Make sure the DVD is clean.

Is the DVD an original or a burnt DVDR?

When you get your up to date disc(Gray52?) You'll need to hold down the map, menu and back buttons to access the service menu and force a download off the new disc. If you look in the wiki I think there's a brief guide on the service menu.

A newer DVD should auto install. It's only going backwards (putting the legal DVD back in) that needs the menu download option.

Yep that's normally the case although my last update disc needed the service menu to force the update. If it works immediately all the better of course!

Sadly the 3 finger salute made no difference.

I think my best option here is to hope for the new disc. I can't even use the menu to change climate control or audio or anything

Have you tried dropping the negative lead off the battery for 15 minutes? Helps with lots of electrical oddities. Just don't leave the keys in the ignition when doing so.

If the DVD is original its been whirring away for 10 years and may need a clean.

A replacement DVDR may work wonders.

If it's already a DVDR then they do have a far shorter shelf life and again a new one may be the answer.

Yep, I'd say get the new disc and see if that solves it.

I've messaged the chap on here who sells them a few days ago. No reply though!

The ones on Ebay are a scary price. Mine says version 3.60 on it?

Latest version is 3.90 I believe, there's more detail on the wiki.

Thank you.

Due to discovering within 200 miles the clutch is slipping in sixth it is going back to the dealer, and I am going to get them to fix this as well. Even replacing the screen AND the reader seems to be a sub 100 fix from Ebay second hand parts.

Fingers crossed they do it free of charge!

Went to take it to the dealership today, had an appointment booked...

...salesman took the day off.

It now slips in 4th gear...

Only one salesman then

I'd have been quite noisy demanding to see someone. Special journey, day off work, etc.

Name and shame the dealer.

To be fair, they took the car this morning with minimal resistance.

Update: Received a phone call from the garage just now

"We can't replicate the issue and get the clutch to slip"....

and

"We cant get the sat nav to work, can we compensate you for that and get you an external one"...

Ok, I'll show you then (How hard is it to drive in 6th gear and accelerate from 50mph) and no, you'll fix the original one please! Presumably if I replace the screen AND the DVD unit that must fix it?
