Question Rev counter and multi function display problem

Hello,

At least once a day now when starting my car the rev counter and the display in the middle don't turn on. If I tap the glass it turns on and stays on so I'm thinking it is probably a loose connection. Has anyone else had this problem and managed to fix it?

I followed a helpful guide I found to take the unit out and is seemed to be plugged in fine.

Thank you

I think this is a problem with the dimmer switch although it is only the lights for the rev counter and display inside of it which are playing up. When I push the button in and out a few times the lights go out. Does anyone know if the switch can be fixed or would it need a new instrument cluster?
