Installing Permanent usb socket

Hi,

Iíve got the usb socket to wire in. Was going to replace the center console lighter. I can pull it out and install it but I canít find anywhere that shows which wires goes to which terminal. I know there are only two wires so I have a 50/50 chance of getting it the wrong way around.

Thanks
L

If you haven't got a meter, get one, or borrow one, or get someone who knows what he is doing to do it for you.

Lighter Socket = 12v
USB = 5v

I already have a push fit usb and I have a dash cam plugged into it. But itís driving me nuts as the usb keeps losing the power. I have to wiggle it and hope. I bought one similar to this. Thanks for the suggestions. Iíve borrowed a volt meter so I should be good to go 🙂

I got the dark blue which doesn't really show up that much (in the daylight ). Used the volt meter to work out which way around that cables were supposed to go. It's working ok. The giant plastic securing nut from the back broke as soon as I looked at it, probably due to the previous encounter as a mistaken dog toy by one of our dogs.
